I've never been this comfortable talking to anyone. Something about him makes me feel safe. I felt it before and I feel it even more now. Alanis had no reason to think Marylyn would try to hurt me, I didn't. He wanted to help me and at the end of the day he did. Had it played out like I believed she wanted it to. I'd be dead and gone. Mikaela walking in when she did, was everything.
Alanis went to check on everyone and grab us dinner. So I'm walking around the room trying to build back up my strength. You'd think I was immobile for months the way my muscles ache. I've been up for six hours and all I've been allowed to do is sit. As crazy as yesterday was, it was healing at the same time. I killed the woman who killed my granny girl.
I know exactly what happened to her and what could happen to me. I think it's time to go through her chest. I know that's where she kept all her research and keepsakes. There has to be more in there on the dark side of healers. Granny was obsessed towards the end and now I understand. The woman she's known her whole life was behind it all.
"Couldn't sit a second longer?" Monty catches me no my third lap around the room. He's the house manger. I never knew that was a thing. But I guess when you have a house this big, and multiple people on your staff. Help like this is needed
"My body was starting to feel stiff. Don't tell. I can't get in trouble but they would have a lot to say." I laugh making my way back to the couch
"You should be resting," he helps me back to the couch.
"You really should." Alanis walks in.
"She didn't go far. Just around the couch." Monty winks at me before walking out the room. That was a beautiful lie, I appreciate it.
"How are you Monty's favorite already. I've only known for him to lie for my father." He hands me my big time burger from Lucky's. This is the only thing that can fill me up, when I'm starving.
"How do you know he lied?" I do my happy bounce as I unravel the burger and take a bite.
"Because you are sweating." He smiles handing me a napkin.
"Oh, ha"I giggle covering my mouth, before whipping off my face.
"When you get finish, we are going outside to get some air." He walks over to the bar to grab a drink.
"I thought Ona said I should leave until my eyes are one natural color. I'm working with a rainbow over here." I take out one of my contacts for him to see.
"We're going out back. It's safe, but don't put that back in." He stops me mid motion
"Why not? Something wrong?" I hit the camera on my tablet sitting on the table. Using it as a mirror.
"Do you need them to see?" He asks
"No, they actually blur my vision a smidge." I laugh noticing how dumb I sound asking why I should leave them out.Everyone here has seen my eyes already, no need to hide them.
"If you don't need them to see and you're in the comfort of your own home, why do you need to have them on?" He poses with his head rested on his index finger and thumb. Waiting for my answer.
"I don't. I'm just use to having them in. I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but it's so weird how naturally, you guys call this my home. I'm not saying I don't want to be here, or that I don't like it because I do." I reply taking the other one out.
