Chapter 9: The lour.

The boat had headed out into the open water. On the bigger boat than before. Mr. Jimmy had our heading like a compass. He showed us the way that we needed to go. We were so far out that we could not see the shoreline anymore.

And once we were Mr. Jimmy told us. Alright, stop! The boat's engine was killed, and the boat was left floating in the middle of the sea. Jimmy, what's going on? Mum had asked him. And he told us. We're here. This is the spot.

Alex asked him. Yep. This does look like the place that was in the new report. Frank said. Hey, Oliver. Mum called him on the boat's communicator. We made it. Ok. Are you all set? He asked us. We sure are. Frank told him. We have three bottles of gas for the boat.

Extra trackers and weapons in case this thing wants to have us for dinner. And the sonar is on too. Dr. Chase added. So, if there is anything in the water, we will know it before it can hit the boat. And you are sure that we are in the right place? Mum asked Jimmy. This is the place. I said. And how do you know? Alex asked me with an unsure tone, and I answered her by telling her. Because of this. I used one of the nets that we had onboard.

Scoop it into the water. Pulled up something that I noticed floating and showed it to them. Oh my god. Alex said as she placed both of her hands over her mouth. Mum and Dr. Chase had both looks of horror on their faces. Mr. Jimmy was shocked, and Mr. Frank's face had turned chalk white and by what he had seen the sight was gruesome that he almost had lost his breakfast.

Please tell me that is not a. Severed arm. I said. It looks like it. It must be what was left of those men who were out here last night. Mr. Frank stated. And this is what must have left after our "creature from the black lagoon's" late midnight snake.

I said. I get that was a joke but it was not funny. Alex told me. Wait a second. She said. Your telling us that this thing is powerful enough that it is able to rip apart a full-grown human being. And get back up after having a large rock crush it.

I know that we have to find this thing but after finding that are we certain that we still want to? We have to, Alex. Dr. Chase had told his daughter. With something like that out here it damage the ecosystem. You're right daddy and I understand but how are we going to find it out here with nothing but water,

For miles and miles. She dose rias a good question? Mr. Frank had agreed. I don't think that will be hard. I took a closer look at where the arm was severed and I noticed something. There is still some fresh blood in here. So, that means that this kill isn't from last night. It's recent. Mr. Jimmy added.

Now, we are in danger. Said Mr. Frank. Your right. Mum agreed. Because if that kill still has some blood left over then that means he will be back for that. And as soon as we had pointed that out, our resident shark expert had gotten an idea.

That's it. What's it? I asked. From what we know, this thing has shark DNA in it. That means that it should be able to smell fresh blood once it's in the water. And once it gets the scent that thing will right for us. Yeah for it's breakfast.

Frank stated. That could work. Mum agreed. It dose sound like a good idea but what happens when this thing gets here? Dr. Chase had asked. Once it arrives when can use the weapon once it gets in sight. Mum added. And if it gets away? Frank ask. Then we put a tracker on it.

I said. I mean that is why we brought those along isn't it? She's right. Dr. Chase agreed with me. One problem. Alex said. I did see that we did bring a lot of equipment to help us hunt this thing down. But I didn't see anything that we can use to lure it in.

We have that taken care of too. Mr. Jimmy told all of us. We do? I said sounding confused. Early this morning Oliver and I went and got a bunch of fish that were just freshly caught and we ground them up to create a pile of. Chum. That's right. And with some extra fish guts.
