The past drifts close, a shadowed sigh,
In winds that whisper, soft and sly.
In echoes lost, the memories cling,
A haunting song the night will sing.

Through winding paths and skies of dusk,
The past walks with us, cloaked in musk.
In every tear, in every smile,
It lingers near, if just awhile.

It cradles joy, it holds our fears,
The quiet laughter, hidden tears.
Though bound to us, we rise anew,
A phantom light to guide us through.

For in the past, our roots are deep,
Where tender dreams and shadows sleep.
But still we press through mist and shade,
With strength the darkest days have made.

The past will always be, it's true,
Yet let it not consume you, too.
For in its depths, a truth will turn,
And in its warmth, the embers burn.
