Wave Country was a small nation located in a small island between Fire Country and Water Country, separated by a strait. From Konoha, Naruto and his team had to travel to the east.

Wave Country had many rivers running through it and was famous for its mangroves, which were filled with all kinds of lifeforms. Although an isolated island, relying on shipping for commerce and trade, it was prosperous and peaceful.

With average shinobi travel speed, it took three days to reach Wave Country from Konoha. It meant, even after reaching this point, Naruto and his team had to travel for another day. But luckily enough, the journey to Wave was relatively peaceful.

On this day, when the sun was about to set, Kakashi decided to rest and prepare for the night. Tents were built. Bonfire were made. As for foods and water, they had no choice other than to look for river.

They took turn keeping watch. Naruto and Sasuke were the first, then Kakashi and Sakura took turn after them. And then, the sun arose once again. Team 7 continued their journey escorting Tazuna to Wave.

"In a few hours, we will reach the sea," informed Tazuna. "From there, we need to use a boat to get to Wave Country."

Around two hours after Tazuna informed the young genins about that, the peaceful journey ended. From the two puddles, two masked shinobi came out.

They rushed at full speed to attack Kakashi. Kakashi was sliced, shocking Sakura. The two shinobi then dashed toward them, aiming for Tazuna. However, Sasuke moved quickly to intercept one of them. Naruto handled the other one.

Tazuna was frightened. Sakura quickly got over her shock and stood protectively in front of Tazuna.

From a branch of a tree, Kakashi observed his students. He felt relief that his effort in training them was not in vain. What had just happened was similar to one of team-work trainings he engineered: an ambush attack.

Naruto and Sasuke were quick to realize that the puddles weren't normal. Sakura was late to realize, but she managed to get over her shock quickly. The poof of smoke must have convinced her that the Kakashi that got sliced was a mere clone.

The battle between his male students and the two masked shinobi didn't last long.

Thanks to his sharingan, Sasuke managed to follow after his opponent's movement. His opponent underestimated him; he fell victim to Sasuke's [Lightning Wave]. Meanwhile, Naruto didn't use any jutsu to take down his opponent. He used his bare hands to knock him down.

Out of everyone, Naruto was the one with the most improvement. He was already on the level of a pinnacle chuunin in speed and strength. That's without the aid of his doujutsu or Kyuubi's chakra. He was really good.

Sasuke could be put in the level of chuunin as well. After learning [Shadow Clone] technique, the boy really pushed himself to train. Kakashi felt that Sasuke might be able to attain three tomoes sharingan in a few weeks if he kept pushing himself.

As for Sakura, she was not comparable to her two teammates. However, compared to their first meeting, she was at least five times stronger. Her personal training under the direction of Naruto really helped her.

For a moment, Kakashi wondered what would happen if he only taught them about team-work. However, he quickly shook his head. Even if there's a parallel world, there's no way he would be so lazy as to neglect his students' training, right?

Satisfied with his observation, Kakashi body-flickered his way toward his genins.

Sakura and her teammates weren't surprised at seeing him. There's no reason for them to feel surprised. Tazuna was the only one who was surprised.
