As the sun began its descent, casting golden rays across the landscape, Cale and his party started their journey back to the villa. The air was filled with the sound of laughter, lighthearted banter, and the occasional quip as the group reflected on their recent adventures.

"Remember when we encountered that giant crab?" Raon cackled, his eyes wide with excitement. "It was the size of a house! I thought we were done for!"

Cale chuckled, shaking his head. "Yeah, I remember Choi Han's face when it snapped its claws at him. He looked like he was about to faint!"

"I did not!" Choi Han protested, his cheeks flushing. "I was simply assessing the situation!"

"Right, 'assessing'," Alberu teased, stepping in closer to Cale, a playful glint in his eyes. "You were assessing whether to run or stand your ground. We all saw it."

"Whatever you say, Your Highness," Choi Han replied, crossing his arms and trying to hide his smirk. "At least I didn't trip over my own feet trying to dodge the crab!"

Cale snorted, unable to suppress his laughter. "That was a spectacular fall, Alberu. I'm pretty sure the crab was more surprised than you were."

Alberu pretended to scowl. "It was a strategic maneuver. It confused the creature!"

"Strategic, right," Cale said, grinning at the prince. "I'll have to remember that next time I trip over my own feet."

As they walked, the camaraderie among the group was palpable. Cale felt a swell of gratitude for his friends, their support unwavering even in the face of bizarre trials. But as the banter continued, a nagging sense of tension flickered at the back of his mind, though he couldn't quite pinpoint its source.

"So, Cale," Rosalyn said, nudging him playfully. "How does it feel to be the sparkly, improved version of yourself?"

Cale rolled his eyes but smiled nonetheless. "I'm still the same me, just with a bit more flair, I suppose."

"Flair is good!" Raon exclaimed, puffing out his chest. "Flair makes you stand out! You should embrace it!"

"I'm embracing it," Cale replied, raising his hands in mock surrender. "But it's hard to keep track of everyone's feelings when all I'm trying to do is get home."

"Don't worry," Choi Han said reassuringly. "We'll help keep everything in balance."

"Balance?" Cale echoed, glancing between Choi Han and Alberu. "What do you mean by that?"

"Oh, nothing!" Alberu quickly interjected, a grin plastered across his face. "Just that we're all friends here, right?"

"Right," Cale replied, though the air felt charged with an unspoken tension that he couldn't ignore.

"Honestly, it's been a wild adventure," Choi Han added, his expression turning serious for a moment. "I'm just glad we made it through together."

"Me too," Cale agreed, his voice softening. "I couldn't have done it without all of you. I really appreciate your support."

As they continued walking, the forest path gradually opened up to a clear view of the distant mountains. The beauty of their surroundings contrasted sharply with the thoughts swirling in Cale's mind. He could sense something had changed within him, yet he remained blissfully unaware of the rivalry simmering just beneath the surface.

"I can't wait to get back and celebrate!" Raon declared, his energy infectious. "We should have a feast!"

"A feast sounds great!" Cale responded, his spirits lifting at the thought. "I could definitely go for some of Mary's cooking right about now."

"Don't forget the pie!" Alberu chimed in, a sly grin on his face. "I'm sure Ron would love to have some too."

Ron, who had been walking behind them, chimed in with a mock serious tone. "Of course! If I don't get my share of pie, there will be consequences!"

"Oh no, not the wrath of Ron!" Cale exclaimed, dramatically clutching his chest.

Everyone burst into laughter, and Cale felt a warm sense of belonging wash over him. But as the laughter echoed through the trees, he couldn't help but notice the subtle glances exchanged between Alberu and Choi Han, their rivalry manifesting in the form of playful jabs and teasing remarks.

"Are you sure you can handle the feast, Your Highness?" Choi Han asked, feigning innocence. "I wouldn't want you to embarrass yourself again."

"I'll be just fine," Alberu shot back, his tone light but with an underlying tension. "Unlike some people, I can handle my food."

"Handle your food, or handle the embarrassment?" Choi Han countered, smirking.

Cale couldn't help but smile at the banter, but he felt a pang of discomfort. Did they really think he was oblivious to their competition? He shook his head, deciding it was best not to delve into the complexities of their relationship right now.

As they approached the villa, Cale took a moment to appreciate the sight of home. The familiar architecture stood proudly against the backdrop of the setting sun, and he felt a wave of relief wash over him.

"Finally!" Raon cheered, sprinting ahead. "Home sweet home!"

Cale chuckled as he watched the kids dash towards the entrance, filled with excitement. "You'd think they've never seen the villa before."

"Kids," Ron muttered fondly, shaking his head. "They're always full of surprises."

As they entered the villa, the smell of dinner wafted through the air, filling their senses with warmth. Mary bustled about in the kitchen, her face lighting up at the sight of the returning group.

"Welcome back, everyone!" she called, beaming. "I've got dinner ready! And I made a special dessert just for you, Cale!"

"Dessert?" Cale repeated, his mouth watering. "What is it?"

"Apple pie!" Mary announced proudly, holding up a steaming dish. "Your favorite!"

Cale's eyes sparkled with delight. "You spoil me, Mary!"

"I just want you to feel at home," she replied, her smile genuine.

As they settled in for dinner, the atmosphere was filled with laughter and lightheartedness. Cale felt a warm glow of contentment as he ate, but in the back of his mind, he couldn't shake the feeling that things were about to get a lot more complicated.

When the meal finally came to an end, the plates were cleared, and Cale's heart raced at the sight of the pie being brought to the table. Everyone dug in, and soon, there was a lively debate about who would finish the last slice.

"Not if I get it first!" Alberu declared, lunging for the remaining piece.

"Excuse me, Your Highness! You're not getting that pie without a fight!" Choi Han shouted, diving in from the other side.

Cale watched, amusement bubbling inside him as the two of them playfully bickered. He glanced at Ron, who was shaking his head with an amused expression. "Just another day in paradise," he muttered.

"Indeed," Ron replied, smirking. "Just be glad you're not in the middle of it."

As laughter filled the room, Cale couldn't help but feel grateful for this moment—the friendships forged in adversity, the bonds strengthened through shared experiences. Little did he know that these same friendships were beginning to change, reshaped by the lingering effects of the curse and the affection that brewed beneath the surface.

While the night wore on, Cale remained blissfully unaware of the growing tension between Alberu and Choi Han. Instead, he focused on the joy of being surrounded by his friends, savoring the simple pleasure of their company.

But as the laughter echoed and the night deepened, the unspoken rivalry simmered just below the surface, waiting for the right moment to unfold.
