GEORGE'S POV

"George!" My name was called for the millionth time today. It was always George this and George that, I never got a break. I sighed and walked out from around the counter. I entered the back room and found Niki (My best friend) grabbing boxes. "Could you help me put these away?" She handed me a box full of books.

If you couldn't tell by now, I owned a bookstore. I also led a book club with a few of my friends, their friends, and a few strangers. I carried the boxes from the back and saw a customer looking around. "Hello! Welcome to The Enchanted Shelf." I welcomed the customer and she smiled at me. "Hi!" She walked towards me. "Do you by chance sell the "A Court of Thorns and Roses," series?" I set down the boxes on the counter and told her to follow me

"They are right here in this corner," I pointed to them. "the last book isn't up here, but if that's the one you're looking I can look in the back for you." She smiled at me. "No, the one I want is here, but thank you for showing me." I gave her a small smile back. "No problem." I then walked to the counter and sorted through all the books. Niki finally emerged from the back and set her boxes on the floor. "Oh my." She breathed heavily. I laughed at her.

"Why don't you work the cash register while I put the books away?" I patter her on the back. "Yes, please!" She nodded and walked around the counter. I took stacks of books out and put them on the right shelf. I was already getting tired, but it had to be done. "George, can you help me?" Niki called me. I looked over and walked to the register.

"I was trying to add her coupon and it wouldn't work." I walked around the counter and looked at the screen. "So you're going to have to click the coupon scanner, and do it from behind the counter." I took the coupon from the customer who reluctantly handed it to me. Niki clicked on the coupon scanner and finally got it to work. "Oh, thank you, George." I nodded and went back to putting books away.

I didn't know how exhausting it would be to own a bookstore until now. I loved it, but I also how tired it made me. I worked from 9 AM to 5:30 PM, which it is currently 4. I Folded down boxes that were empty and brought them to the back. I only had 2 more boxes to unpack until I was done.

I heard the bell on the door jingle. I emerged from the back and was about to welcome the customer but I was met with my best friend standing there like a dummy. "Karl!" I laughed and hugged him. "Hi, George." He patted my back. "Hi, Niki." I let go of the hug and went back to my books. "What are you doing here?" I asked. He went up and sat on the counter. "I was going to take over your shift, but it seems you're having tons of fun." He giggled. Karl was always taking over my shifts for me. I always paid him even if he said he would do it for free.

"No, I'm fucking exhausted." I laughed. I folded another empty box, only one more to go. "George, you are always tired." Niki teased. "No, I am not!" I put a hand on my hip and looked at her. "This job is the only thing making me tired." Niki shook her head.

"When is book club this week?" Karl asked. I swear he never remembers anything. "This Friday at 6 PM," I answered. "don't be late." I pointed out. Niki laughed. Karl just rolled his eyes.

"Oh yeah, George," Niki looked at me. "I was wondering if I could try and bring someone along this Friday?" She tapped her finger on the counter. "He might say no, but he's nice and I'm sure everyone would get along with him." I thought for a moment. I mean we do need some new people, and it would be a good switch-up. "Yeah, for sure." I nodded. She jumped up and down excitedly. "Ok! I will ask him tomorrow then!"

"Ok well, you guys have fun, then." Karl jumped off the counter. "I'm going over to Sapnap's." He brushed off his pants. "Bye!" I waved. He walked out of the bookstore and disappeared down the sidewalk.

"You can go too, Niki." I looked over to her. "No, I'll stay here and help you." I shook my head. "Niki, go, I'm going to close up a bit early anyways." She sighed. "Ok, fine." She shut down the cash register and gathered her things. "See you tomorrow, George!" She waved. "Bye!" The door opened and then closed behind her.

I closed my eyes for a second before opening the register and counting all the money we made today. My bookstore was fairly popular, so we did pretty well on the money. I shut everything down and grabbed my things.

Before I could leave I heard the jingle of the door. I emerged from the back room and looked at who just walked into my store. It was a tall male with blond hair and very pretty green eyes. "Hi!" I smiled. "Welcome to The Enchanted Shelf!" He smiled and it made my cheeks flush a bright red. "Hi! Do you sell water by chance?" He asked. I nodded and pointed to the giant cooler against the wall. "Yes! We sell all kinds of beverages." He walked over and opened the door. I walked back around to the cash register and turned it on.

This man had on some fancy leather clothing. I watched as he grabbed water and looked at the rest of the drinks. He turned around and walked to the counter. I scanned the water and told him his total. "Your total for today is $2.14." He handed me a 5, and as I was about to open the register he said. "Keep the change." I looked up and smiled. "Oh, thank you, have a great day!" He picked up his water and walked out.

Ok, I knew I was gay, but I didn't think I was THAT gay. Whatever man just walked into my store was the most fine-looking man to exist. His dirty blond hair that was parted in the middle did things to me, things that I never thought I would feel. And his damn eyes made me want to melt. They were the most perfect green ever. But what got me was his body. He had such a muscular build, and his shoulders were wide. It made me drool just thinking about it.

I shook my head away from my thoughts and quickly left the store before I could make up any more scenarios in my head. I locked the doors behind me and started walking to my house. I didn't know how to drive, so walking was my go-to transportation. It was only a few blocks away, so it wasn't that bad of a walk.

As soon as I made it home I slouched down on the couch with my cup of noodles and watched TV. I was too tired to walk up the stairs to my room, so I resorted to sleeping on the couch. After I ate my noodles I stretched my legs out on the couch and closed my eyes.

I decided that I couldn't wait until it was Friday, so I didn't have to go to work.
