⚠️TRIGGER WARNING: Attempted SA & physical abuse⚠️
Leia's POV
As we pulled up to my place, I could already feel the weight of saying goodbye sinking in. I hugged Timothée's hoodie tighter around me, feeling the warmth from our weekend still lingering in the fabric. When I looked over at him, he was watching me, that soft, lazy smile of his lighting up his face.
"I'm gonna miss you," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
He reached out, brushing a strand of hair from my face. "You know, I'm just a call away," he said, his smile matching mine. "But yeah... I'm gonna miss you too. Way too much."
I leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to his lips, and for a moment, it felt like time froze. As our kiss deepened, I felt Timothée's hand rest lightly on my cheek, pulling me closer. The world around us seemed to melt away, like it always did when we were together.
But suddenly, I caught movement from the corner of my eye. Across the road, my mom's boyfriend had just parked and was getting out of his truck. He looked over, his eyes catching on us for a split second, brows raised in mild surprise. I swallowed hard and felt super uncomfortable.
Timothée noticed my glance and pulled back slightly, a small smirk playing on his lips. "Someone you know?" he murmured, his voice low, teasing.
I chuckled, rolling my eyes. "Just my mom's boyfriend." I shrugged, trying to play it cool, though my cheeks flushed a bit.
He grinned, still holding onto my hand. "Guess he's getting a front-row seat, then."
I laughed, squeezing his hand. "And a reason to stay out of my business," I joked, hoping my mom wouldn't get too many details later. Not that she would care anyway.
"Text me when you get home?" I asked, half-hoping he'd say something that would keep him here just a little longer.
He gave me a wink. "Count on it." With one last look, he gave my hand a squeeze before I stepped out, the morning air cooler than I expected, and tugged his hoodie a little tighter around me.
As I walked up the pathway to my house, I could still feel his eyes on me. Part of me wanted to turn around, run back to him, and keep this perfect moment going just a little longer. But I kept walking, feeling my heartbeat slowly return to normal as I reached the door.
With one last look over my shoulder, I caught Timothée giving a small wave from the car. I smiled, waved back, and then slipped inside, closing the door softly behind me.
As I stepped inside, my mom's boyfriend was leaning in the hallway, his arms crossed, eyes zeroed in on me in that unsettling way. He glanced at the hoodie I was wearing-Timothée's hoodie-and his mouth twisted into a smirk.
"So, is that the boyfriend you were kissing outside?" he asked, not even attempting to hide the edge in his voice.
I tightened my grip on the hoodie, wishing I could just disappear. "That's none of your business," I replied, keeping my voice steady.
He ignored that, stepping closer, eyes fixed on me with a look that made my skin prickle. "Guess you must be spending a lot of time with him, huh? Late nights, all that? Coming home in his clothes."
I forced myself to meet his gaze, hoping he'd get the message.
He only chuckled. "Just making conversation, Leia. No harm in that."
Without another word, I headed straight to my room, closing the door firmly behind me. I leaned against it, exhaling as I tried to shake off the sick feeling his questions left behind.
