*The Addams Family*

~*~

They stood around her, her children and grandchildren. Awaiting for the inevitable death that they all so gladly anticipated for. Of course, they will miss their dearly beloved Matriarch, but death in this family is sacred and beautiful and a most eager event. Death and funerals in the Addams family are what birth and weddings are to the normal modern family.

And they are no normal modern family. At least to the "normal" society.

And no one was more excited to die than the Matriarch herself. The Queen of Darkness and Torture and Seduction. Morticia Addams.

Even at her ripe old age, she was a beauty that even Death herself did not want to touch, in fear of tainting it. But alas, death is inevitable for everyone. She had taken many Addams' before, Gomez being one of them some years ago, and she would not exempt Morticia.

It would be torture to do so, which Morticia is admittedly not opposed to, but she misses her husband and has been waiting a long time for the reunion.

And finally, at long last, she feels her heart beat slower and slower. For normal people, they see light when they die, but for the Addams' it is a deep black smoky mist. And in this darkness stood her beloved Gomez.

Morticia smiled where she laid, her strained eyes seeing only her husband, who stood at the doorway. Her surroundings began to blur out until suddenly she couldn't see them at all in the darkness that now took over the room. Gomez being the only thing in her sight, causing a feeling of lust to return to her body that she hadn't felt in so long. As he made his way to her, he reached his hand out for her to take. "Cara Mia," he says, his voice a whisper even though no one could hear or see him. Just her. His wife.

"Mon Cher," Morticia replies, taking his hand. She takes in a shuddering breath and when he pulls her up from the bed and onto her feet, her surroundings come back into view.

And that's when she knew she had died.

Because the first thing she notices is her old body lying lifeless on the bed.

Her family realized it instantly and cheered through their tears. A mixture of happy and sad.

"Our legacy lives on," Gomez said, kissing her fingers and watching her intently. "Oh, Tish, it's been so long. I've missed you so."

"And I you, my love," Morticia cups his face affectionately and examines the details. He's exactly the same as how he left her, only there's more color on his face and his skin is warm. Even in death he is alive and maybe that's because of her.

Because she swears her heart is still beating and she knows it's because of him. Because only her Gomez can make her feel alive when dead.

And now, they finally get to be dead together.

And they've never felt more alive.
