The next couple of months passed in a blur for Boone and everyone else in the group,
The move to Mexico was a relative success since Luca was able to get cured, even though the camp they were staying at got ambushed by a horde soon after their arrival
The one eyed man still couldn't process that his lover had been dead for well over six months now, and by his own hand no less.
He tried to get himself through the motions of daily life but deep down he knew that nothing was ever going to be the same.
Cedar had eventually forgiven him for the secrets he'd kept from her but there were still days where she could barely look at him.
So, on a windy day in mid March he gathered everyone up for an impromptu family meeting. "Benji, I need you to take Cedar and Luca with you on your supply run later".
"Why?". The curly haired man asked, Immediately sensing that something was wrong.
Boone shook his head. "I think the kids need some time away from me, that's all".
Benji still looked suspicious but knew better than to argue, so he just nodded his head whilst trading worried glances with Charlie and Miguel.
Later that day when Benji had left with Cedar and Luca. Miguel walked outside and carefully stood next to his little brother. "Boone, talk to me".
Boone sniffed and wiped the trickle of tears from his remaining eye. "I can't keep living like this".
"Whatever you're thinking of doing, please don't do it". Miguel pleaded. "I can't lose you too".
"I killed my own partner, The one fucking person that I actually cared about". Boone argued almost tiredly.
"What about your daughter huh? What about me?". Miguel pleaded, pointedly trying to ignore his younger brother's choice of wording.
"Cedar's not my daughter, We all know that by now". Boone argued. "She'll be better off without me. hell, you'll all be better off without me".
"I can't fucking do this without you! I have no idea what I'm doing". Miguel replied brokenly.
"Charlie and Benji will be around to help, You can handle it". Boone tried to say encouragingly.
"C'mon, We forgave each other for everything that happened, didn't we?". Miguel asked, desperately trying to distract his little brother from what he knew was going to inevitably happen.
"This isn't about us Iggy, I don't eat, I don't sleep - I just want everything to be over ''. Boone whimpered in an almost childlike tone.
"You have a family that cares about you, Please...". Miguel pleaded as his own tears fell.
The younger man just shook his head to silence his older brother's pleas, going in to hug for what would be the last time.
"Boone -". Miguel tried to plead once more as he felt his pistol being unhooked from his belt loop.
"You have to let me do this". Boone whispered, pulling away from his brother with the pistol in his shaky hand.
"Please, just give me the gun". Miguel pleaded again, backing away fearfully when Boone turned the loaded weapon on him.
"I'm sorry". Boone whispered, not looking back as he ran back to the farmhouse, locking the front door behind him as he went.
Miguel distantly felt Charlie wrap his arms around him, holding him back as a single shot rang out from inside the locked house, signaling that Boone Baker's life had ended.
