It's October 15th, 1992. During the time, a boy named Adam Owens explores a lot of places with his "friends." During the time out, he finds out a lot and hurts a lot from it. Will he find out the exact truth?

I told you that you would hear from me, and guess what?
It's something gross. It's Halloween AGAIN. Usually, when it's this time of the year, I always have to wear something so pathetic that my mother would make me. Last year, it was a shitty Forrest Gump costume. It was honestly kind of embarrassing. Maybe I can have dad buy me a better costume, like Ash Ketchum.
"Dad, can you buy me a costume this year?" I asked him. He looked at me and responded, "Usually, I buy costumes for your sister. I can buy you a costume, though your sister will have to deal with your mother," and I was honestly happy with that response. "Thank you, dad. When are we going to go buy it?" I asked again. "In an hour. I still have to let your mother know about this and I have to get some things cleaned up, then we can go."
An hour? I can't wait an hour just for a costume. But if it takes an hour just for a costume I want, I would appreciate that actually.
It's been an hour now, laying bored on the couch like I'm dying there, or more of a couch potato. A few minutes of waiting and my dad has his keys. "Let's go, Kiddo." I stood up and followed him to the car. I got in the passenger seat and buckled up. He pulled out of the driveway, and we were on our way to the store.
Finally, I got my costume for today. I'm happy and content with it. As long as my sister's costume is good, then it's going to be a great Halloween.
And now I finally regret what I said. My mother did a shitty job with her costume now. A zombie?? Like is that the best you can do? Her one eye is covered with make-up and fake blood. I do have to say, that part was the best out of the whole damn thing. "Look at you two. Vivian has the best one. Adam is some weird guy." My mother commented. That made my rage boil a bit. "It's Ash Ketchum, not some weird-ass guy. Maybe watch some more TV, you would know who he is."
And that's when my mother slapped me across the face. "Martha! Don't just slap him across the fucking face! I hate to admit it, but I agree with my son. You should watch more TV; you would understand more of what he actually is. Be a better mother to your fucking kids. At least I treat them right and equal." My father yelled.
That's... really the first time I've ever heard my dad yell at her like that. He's like a delicate flower, but something must've broken in him to cause that. Did they get into an argument recently? Is that why that caused him to yell? I dunno. But that slap stung, like really bad.
"I'm just teaching him to not disrespect his own mother!" She yelled back. "Right, right. Come on, Vivian and Adam. Let's get you guys some candy." My father announced, taking us out of the house.
We walked around a bit, knocking on the doors and saying the usual "Trick or Treat!" It's kind of disappointing always having to say that sentence. It might actually be annoying hearing that if I was the one giving kids candy for one day. A lot of kids.
"Hey Adam!" I heard. I turned around, and it was my friends. "You should totally come trick or treating with us!" Said Mark. "Yeah, you should. It'd be cool if you would." Ethan added. I looked at my father, and he nodded. I didn't want to, but I had to. I walked up to them and walked with them, seeing my father and my sister fade away.
"Ash Ketchum, huh?" Mark asked, looking at me. "Uh... Yeah." I nodded. "When I used to watch that show, he was my crush." "Are you... like gay, Mark?" Serena asked, looking at him. "I like admitting things that I've kept hidden." Piper also looked at him and had her jaw dropped. "We're breaking up." She grumbled, storming off.
I blinked a few times, looking at what just literally happened. Was that a way that Mark was flirting with me? Did Piper want Mark that badly? Why'd they date?
"I... uh... Like your costume too, Mark. Are you one of the agents from 'Men in Black'?" I asked, curious. He nodded, "Yeah. It's just sunglasses and a suit. That's all." He wrapped his arm around me. We walked together, getting candy. "Eww! Mr. Owens is totally falling for Marky Poo!" Ethan called, taunting us. "Oh, shut up, Ethan. You have no girls." I replied, insulting him.
He was offended. "At least I'm not gay!" He responded to that. "Ethan, calm the hell down for once. You're just jealous that it's not you." Mark replied.
That... was the first time he's stuck up for me. That isn't him. Did he change that quickly? What happened? There's just... too many questions that are in my head right now that I can't comprehend answering each and every single one. If... we did date, my mom wouldn't approve. Wait, hold on, why am I thinking about this in the first place?
After all of that, I found my dad and my sister, and before I left, Mark... Kissed me on the cheek. "Bye Adam." He waved. I waved back, getting in the car. "That your boyfriend?" My dad asked me in the car. "N-No! We aren't dating or anything!" "Whatever you say, Captain. Let's go home."
We got home around 11 PM and I got a huge bag of candy. My sister had a lot too, which I'm happy she got that much. "Do you have any lollipops?" She asked. "A few, and I got your favorite too. The bubble tape?" Her eyes lit up in joy, and immediately went through my bag of candy.
I just let her go for it. That's my sister, and I don't mind sharing candy with her. We're family, that's what really matters.
Let's just hope and pray to God that I don't get any cavities from eating this candy.
Especially if they were ones that looked like my mom.
