— I think it's crooked here,— Herobrin pointed to the roof of the house.
—Ah,— Steve sighed heavily, —I know… But I do not know how to fix it. It's already this way and that, and it's still crooked!
The guy lowered his hands to give them a rest.
— Let me do it.
Herobrin took several blocks of spruce stairs and suddenly took off. Steve looked at it with great surprise. Meanwhile, the white-eyed man flew up to the roof, easily broke everything superfluous, and then beautifully and unusually placed wooden steps.
— Can you fly??? Steve exclaimed in surprise.
— Is that the only thing that surprises you? —Herobrin looked at him questioningly as he landed.
— Well... in fact…
Steve wanted to finish the roof, but the necessary blocks ran out and there were no supplies at home. So I had to abandon the construction for a while, and do a long-planned thing. The guy has long been eager to grow reeds. But there was no time for everything, and I didn't get around to it. And now is just the time. Steve suggested going to the river, which is not far from here, and planting reeds there. Herobrin, as always, did not refuse, but this time he did not just remain silent, but simply said "let's go." "He's already talking to me more openly," Steve rejoiced inside, "It's so great! I wish I could learn a little more about him. Maybe then it would be possible to understand him better. Hmm... I guess I won't ask him anything yet. When they finally came to the river, they began to equip it as needed: they made paths out of earth and sand, put up a couple of torches and planted the reeds themselves. When the last point came, Steve suddenly heard someone squeaking, which immediately startled him and began to look around. Herobrin noticed this, but watched in silence.
— Did you hear that? — Meanwhile, the guy asked.
— Did i hear what?
— Squeak. Someone was squeaking.
— It's quiet around. It seemed to you.
— No, I couldn't. I definitely heard...— Steve objected, not very confidently, and then he felt uncomfortable, —Probably it's just auditory hallucinations because of the silence around, —he sighed, —I'm sorry.
And such hallucinations were not once or twice a day. But much more often. And Steve reacted to them, trying to find the source of the sound, but each time he found nothing, which disappointed him. And several times Herobrin saw these sudden rushes in search of who knows who or what. This worried him a lot, and one day he decided to talk to the guy. The white-eyed man explained that more than once he had seen Steve's calmness turn into a feverish desire to find someone or something.
— What are you looking for? — Herobrin pierced the interlocutor with his gaze, which made him uncomfortable.
—I... just hear some sounds sometimes," he lowered his gaze, "but I think it's because of…
— No, Steve. It's not because of the silence," Herobrin frowned slightly, "It's the darkness that affects you.
—I understand,— Steve sighed, "but I'm trying to fight it. And I haven't been in the dark for a long time.
— It tends to accumulate, like dust on things. And then it is very difficult to withdraw it.
