I finished what I needed to do at work and clocked out, gathering my Jeff the Killer sweater and my small Black Butler backpack alongside Luna and Dakota.

"You seemed a lot better today now that you're finally away from him", Luna pointed out as she slid her black sweater on. I rolled my eyes and smiled.

"Yeah. That's what everybody's been saying", I replied. Luna raised a brow as she perched her small coffin shaped bag on her shoulder.

"So what you're saying is I gave you good advice and that I was right", Luna teased. I scoffed and Dakota couldn't help but laugh.

"No, I had been meaning to break up with him for a while!", I protested in an exaggerated tone of voice.

"You were too scared to", Dakota pointed out and him and Luna couldn't help but snicker. It was nice to not feel paranoid for once and to actually have a laugh about things. I sighed in defeat.

"Well, I guess you're right, Luna. Thanks so much", I said with a smile. Luna patted me in the shoulder.

"Of course, girl. That's what I'm here for", Luna reassured me.

"Can we get home now? I'm hungry", Dakota interrupted, ruining the moment as he always likes to do. My rambunctious little brother.

"Yeah, yeah", I muttered, waving him off with a laugh. We chuckled as we left the store, walking off into the dark, chilly night.

"Have a nice night, you guys!", Slendrina, Korbyn and Camille greeted us as the door shut behind us. We waved at them through the window, smiling widely as we walked away. We strolled on the street as I scrolled through my phone.

"You guys want me to play music?", I asked. It was always our tradition for us to play music while we walked each other home. They shrugged.

"Sure", they both agreed. I scrolled through my playlists and found a song by Hollywood Undead called "Lion" which I thought sounded good at the moment. And Luna and Dakota did, too, apparently, since they didn't say anything when the song started playing. We nodded our heads to the music as we went along. A little time later, we made it to Luna's house, which is just down the street from ours. Luna started walking away, waving to us as she did.

"Love you guys! See you tomorrow!", she greeted.

"Love you, too, Luna!", I exclaimed, waving at her excitedly. As soon as she went into her house, Dakota looked at me and smiled widely.

"Gay", he said, pointing at me. Ever since I came out to the family as bisexual he's been teasing me about it. Not in a bad way, more like a stupid brotherly love kind of way.

"Shut up", I grumbled, trying to stifle a laugh.

"You really like her, don't you?", Dakota asked as we continued walking.

"If I said I did a little bit, would you make fun of me?", I replied.

"Oh, most definitely. You know me, B", he said with a laugh. "B" was his cute little nickname for me and Iná and Luna and some of my coworkers have caught onto it. And yeah, I think I like Luna a little more than I thought. She's always been a great friend to me who's been there for me since we were young. She's always helped me and was there for me at my worst. I can't help but like her that way.

We continued walking, talking to each other about how work went for us. When we were just down the street from our home, though, three men dressed in black with black masks covering their faces came up from behind us and stifled Dakota's face with a white rag. His eyes closed and his body went limp, slumping to the ground before he could even show much of a struggle.

"Dakota!", I screamed. I turned to look at his attackers. "Why the fuck would you do that?! Who the hell are you?!"

Before I could have my questions answered, I blacked out.

                                -------------

When I woke, I found myself laying on a table, the kind that people were tied to when they were about to be murdered. It was gray and felt cold against my light brown skin. I sincerely hoped I wouldn't be part of some sick horror movie trope. I looked around to observe my surroundings and hopefully figure out where I was. On both my left and right, all sorts of weapons were hung up on the wall, as if whoever kidnapped me took their time to collect them. A bright white circular light hung above me, blinding me and obscuring my vision. Across from me was a staircase leading up to a door, and it was then I realized where I was.

   Kyle's basement.

In our time of dating I don't remember his basement having a huge weapon collection. At that moment the whole conversation I had with him flashed back into my mind and I realized that this time he was right and he truly meant that I would pay for breaking up with him. I knew my gut was right and that I shouldn't have listened to my friends for once. I couldn't help but feel enraged at them for underestimating Kyle and his toxicity, but I quickly dismissed it because that was definitely not the most important thing right now. Where was my brother? And what the hell was Kyle going to do to me? Was he among the three men that kidnapped me? If so, who were the other two? My thoughts raced and I continued to grow more anxious.

"Well, well, well, Bianca", I heard a familiar voice call from the top of the staircase. I looked across from me to see Kyle dressed in all black, his hands tucked into his pockets as he slowly descended the steps. "Didn't I....", he tilted his head, "warn you not to break up with me?"

"Why are you doing this? I just want to go home! What'd you do with my brother?!", I screamed, tears streaming down my face.

"Oh, don't worry. All will be answered in due time", he said with a sickening grin, taking a saw off the wall and slowly approaching me. I screamed and cried, flailing around as if that would help me escape. Then I blacked out.
