Luna Thompson has been my best friend since childhood. We went to the same school and she was even there to support me when Kyle and I started dating. However she was one of the first to find out about the abuse. We were hanging out at the park in town, which was our favorite spot to just sit and talk. We had time that evening since both of us didn't work (she also works at the same place as Dakota and I).
"You better believe that if he does anything I'm beating his ass", Luna grumbled while pumping her legs on the swing, referring to Kyle's recent outburst which resulted in me biting my lip and swelling. She's always been like a protective sister to me. "And you need to break it off with this douchebag!"
I shrugged. "And if he hits me again?", I said in a monotone voice, about ready to just give up I was so tired of the bullshit.
"The police will be there, and so will me and your family!", she replied, determined.
"Ok", I said with a smirk, "then this ends tonight. I'm tired of it"

Nearby, a tall, faceless figure stood in the woods along with his two companions, a 5'10 man who dressed with a white mask with black eyes and lips and a beige jacket and the other who stood at 6 feet, had a black mask with a red frowning face and a yellow sweater."This is the one you want us to recruit?", the man in the yellow jacket asked, almost shocked. "Why?"
"Just do what the master says", the man with the frowning mask sighed, sounding exhausted, as if this wasnt the first time his partner has protested.
"Patience, Timothy", a very deep voice sounded from above the two men. They look up to gaze into the tall man's nonexistent face. "This one is worthy, just as you two are. Take her and bring her to Mother and Father's headquarters at once", he commanded. The two men nodded.
"Yes, sir", they complied. They already knew what would come of their disobedience and they did not want to ever see it again.

I was laying on my bed watching true crime documentaries on my laptop about Jeff the Killer and how he came to be known as his iconic name. Jeff the Killer has always been my favorite to learn about. My brother and I have always been huge fans of true crime and love to watch anything about Jeff the Killer. Luna is also a big Jeff the Killer fan, and also loves to learn more about Jane the Killer. My cousin Rebecca is more of a Clockwork fan, though. Anyway, I found myself staring at an image of Jeff displayed on my laptop screen while the narrator spoke in the background when I checked to see if I got any messages from Kyle. He had left me on read a day ago and neither of us messaged each other since. Typical. I didn't expect much to occur anymore anyways. I took a deep breath in and out as I opened the chat and started typing away at the keyboard, letting my fingers do the work."I'm sick of the bullshit, Kyle. You make me feel dumb and insignificant and you always make fun of me. No matter what I'm just not good enough for you and I'm done feeling that way. I need someone who makes me feel good about who I am. You're an asshole. Fuck you"
And sent. For the first time in what seemed like years I had noticed he had read my message right away and automatically started typing.
Jeez, that's what I have to do to get a quicker response from him? How pathetic.I sat there nervously, pausing my show so I wouldn't miss it (I'd rather die than miss any important information about Jeff the Killer)
"Ok. I have a girl waiting for me anyways so fuck you. You'll pay for this"My blood boiled. I knew it! But what did he mean I'd pay for this? My thumbs started typing faster than my brain could even develop a thought.
"I figured. Hopefully that girl knows how much of a piece of shit you are. Go ahead. Try me. You won't"
I sent the message and nearly regretted the last part. Maybe he wasn't scared to do anything but deep down I knew he was a coward. Otherwise why did he feel the need to project that onto me? Plus, I had the protection of my family and my best friend, and if I needed to, I could get Slendrina or another coworker involved (even though I really hope I don't have to because I don't need to bring my coworkers into this). Obviously I also had the police to go to. I debated whether this case was extreme enough for them to get involved or not, so I texted Luna to ask. Just as I started to compose a message to send to her, Kyle texted me again.
"Watch your back. I have connections"
I texted Luna to tell her about the situation and she responded.
"Call the police!!"
And so I did, but they told me because he hadn't done anything that meant they couldn't really do much either, so they told me to call back if anything persists. But why would I need to wait for him to attack me or continue pursuing me for them to help? I had yet another reason to not believe in the justice system and messaged Luna.
"What?!! That's ridiculous! He's literally threatening you! Be careful, ok? Let me know if you go anywhere and have Dakota or me stick by your side!!"
I was sure I was going to take her advice. I messaged back saying thank you and that I was grateful to have her as a caring friend and that I would listen to her.
"Of course. You better!!! 😁😁😁"
I blocked Kyle's number and any social media he had just to ensure he wouldn't be contacting me again. I breathed a sigh of relief. Finally, I wouldn't have to hear from him. A weight seemed to lift from my shoulders and I could feel my stress wither away, but I still couldn't help but feel slightly paranoid, like I was being watched. Regardless, I knew everything was going to be ok now that I was no longer with him.
Or so I thought.
