30 minutes earlier.

Instructor Kim handed out materials to Jung-hwan and Hyun-woo for the test.

They received sharpened pencils, erasers, and a sheet of textured 8-sided paper.

Jung-hwan lightly brushed his fingertips over the paper.

It was the perfect paper for drawing.

'This kind of paper would cost a lot on the Carlos continent.'

He grasped the pencil and lightly sketched a line on the paper.

The smooth texture of the 4B pencil was incomparable to the cheap ones he had used to draw portraits in the hospital.

Instructor Kim tilted his head, watching Jung-hwan, who seemed fascinated by the pencil as if he were seeing it for the first time.

'What's with him?'

Jung-hwan's heart raced.

He wanted to draw as quickly as possible.

Instructor Kim presented a photo of a coated slice of cake.

"Ta-da! Looks delicious, right?"

A slightly brownish-yellow cake topped with contrasting brown chocolate and white cream.

The cake was adorned with eye-catching red cherries and finely chopped fruits.

"We're going to do a simple sketch."

Hyun-woo frowned.

"It looks too difficult."

As he said, the slice of cake was quite a challenging object.

From the sticky white cream to the fluffy cake, and the honey-glazed, shiny fruit.

With so many varying textural elements in one object, it would be a demanding task to render it appealing, given its nature as food.

Instructor Kim smiled.

"It's okay. Don't feel pressured; just do what you can."

The test began.

Hyun-woo, like a racehorse, took his pencil and outlined the cake's large shape.

Once he had the basic form, he quickly laid down a base color with the pencil.

'He's in a rush.'

Hyun-woo hastily established the base color before starting to describe the textures.

'He should check the brightness accurately and establish the volume first. If he focuses on detailing from the start...'

As Instructor Kim expected, Hyun-woo's drawing gradually darkened.

The cream, which should be a cloud-like white, was marred by dark stains.

Trying to erase it now was like attempting to reclaim spilled water.

'He seems to have learned how to draw, but his fundamentals are lacking. He probably had a lot of help from instructors at other academies, mistaking that for his own skill.'

Instructor Kim glanced at Jung-hwan, who was sitting next to Hyun-woo.

After five years of teaching, he thought he had seen all kinds of students, but a boy wrapped in bandages was a first.

'What a peculiar kid. But isn't he going to draw?'

Instead of drawing, Jung-hwan was keenly observing the pictures attached to the classroom wall.
