Something about the dream doesn't feel right. Like there's something that's hiding, something that doesn't want to show itself. Yet.
Not a person, or a tangible object, but something else. A feeling. An emotion. Something.
It's only there for a split second, hiding, but I know it was there.
I wake up to the sound of Niall's voice, and I realize he's on the phone, still cradling me in his arms, trying to speak quietly. I keep my eyes closed, because I feel like he'll stop if he knows I'm awake.
"...you touch one hair on her head, I swear I will kill you. Do you understand?" I'm taken aback by this new intensity of his voice. I've never seen Niall so angry. His voice is full of rage and fury, and I'm afraid to see his face like this.
"I said do you hear me?" He says into the phone. "She is my love, and if a hair on her body is harmed, you'll be sorry." He slams his phone down on the nightstand.
I pretend to just wake up because of this. "What...?"
"Oh, you're awake. I was just... on the phone."
"With who?" I need to know. I think he was talking about me.
"Ah... an old... friend." Oh.

I'm feeling much better the next day, and I reluctantly head to school.
I sit with Emma, Ainsley, and Autumn at lunch.
"So how's Niall?" Autumn asks.
"He's great." I blush.
"So, what exactly is going on between you two?" Emma says, giving me a wry smirk.
"Shut up! We're officially dating. Okay?"
"Okay... So just tell us everything. What you think of him, do you dream of him, is he protective of you..." says Ainsley.
"Okay. So... I think he is the sweetest boyfriend in the entire world. He stayed in my apartment for three days almost so he could take care of me while I was sick. Yes, I did have a dream about him, but it was weird. The first time, it was him carrying me off to a land where we were alone and happy, and then I had it again. But the second time something was different. It was like there was something there that was hiding. I couldn't tell what it was exactly, but I don't think it was good." I explain.
"What do you mean?" asks Autumn.
"Well, I'm not sure, but when I woke up that morning, Niall was on the phone. He was talking to someone, he said it was 'and old friend's but it didn't sound like it. He sounded angry. It was a little scary."
"Well, what was he saying?!" Asks Ainsley.
"He said, 'If you hurt one hair on her head I will kill you' or something. But there was intense anger in his voice. I don't know what it means."
Just then the bell rings for last period, and we pick up our lunch bags and head to our different classes.

Niall picks me up from school again, but when I walk outside, he's on the phone again. I hide behind one of the doors so he doesn't see me.
"...you need to stop this. Leave. Sammy. Alone." A pause. "I said leave her alone! This isn't her fault! Leave her out of it."
He furiously hangs up and crams the phone into his pocket. I watch as his angry expression turns calm in the blink of an eye.
I step out of the school and greet Niall.
"Hey, Niall!" I call.
He waves and smiles at the sight of me. When I run over to him, he embraces me in a firm hug.
"Thank God you're okay," he murmurs into my hair. I'm not sure if he meant to say that.
"What was that?"
"Nothing. Just glad to see you."

Moments (A Niall Horan Fan Fiction)
FanfictionThis was my first story, written in seventh grade. It's not very good, and my writing has grown and developed since then. I advise whoever's reading this to read Waiting For You or Taken Away(which is still being written).
