I'm still sick, hence my absence and lack of updates 😭 I did post a couple of chapters earlier that were requested by some of you readers if you want to check them out 👉 https://reamstories.com/emory
I really hope I'll recover soon because I want to get back to the prequel and dive deeper into part 3 of SAHB🤍Sophia's POV
Whilst Sebastian praised me for doing much better work today than yesterday, Alexander unexpectedly showed up at our doorstep. He had brought takeaway, which meant I cooked dinner in vain. I became a little bit upset, and I reckon it's the housewife developing within me—but I'm not on a hysterical mother level... yet. Then I remembered that if I saved the dinner I cooked tonight, I wouldn't have to do it tomorrow. The food Alexander brought turned out to be quite tasty, too.
I shuffle to the table with the steaming coffee pot to pour our cups full before settling in Sebastian's lap. Yes, I'm still tender after last night, and we still have the uncomfortable wooden kitchen chairs. I said, over a year ago, I'd use the chairs as firewood, but Sebastian threatened me with the spanking of my life. So, maybe I will get somebody else to do it for me.Alexander carefully blows air on his scalding hot coffee, eyeing Sebastian. ''I want to ask you something, Sebastian–" he starts.
''Don't say something that will ruin your friendship again!'' I hastily say, receiving two slightly disapproving glances. ''I mean, I just mended your friendship! I might not do it again.''
Sebastian looks at him inquiringly. ''Yes?''
''Do you want to go to Archie's Halloween birthday masquerade with me next weekend?'' Alexander asks, somewhat stiffly. Maybe he's nervous. ''I'm no longer bringing Zander, you know.''
''Do I have to dress up?'' Sebastian baulks.
''Yes, like a clown!'' I tease, snatching a biscuit from the jar on the table.
Alexander chuckles. ''No. A suit and a neat mask will do fine.''
''Well, I will accept the invitation then,'' Sebastian says in a friendly tone.
Alexander shines up, the tension on his face replaced with a smile that mirrors Sebastian.
I snap my fingers in the air, demanding their attention. ''What about me? The savour of your friendship.''
''You know Archie's wife will be there, right?'' Alexander teases.
I frown, wishing it will cloak the blush I sense creeping up my face. ''I bet she's nicer and more mature than you two boys!''
Alexander nods gently, drinking his coffee. ''You may come as well,'' he says.
''I would've snuck in either way because wherever Bastian goes; I go,'' I declare elvishly. ''Unless he goes boring places.''
''I have an appointment booked at the tailor shop on Saturday if you want to come,'' Alexander asks him. ''Ollie and Wesley will come, too.''
''You can drop me off at Bella's on your way to the tailor,'' I suggest. ''She will help me with my costume.''
''If she knows there's a masquerade, she will wheedle her way in, where she isn't invited,'' Alexander says hesitatingly. ''Can't you dress up as a kitten or something?''
''No. Only Bastian gets to see that when he's nice,'' I enunciate with a little smirk. ''Obviously, he hasn't been a good boy lately.'' I glance down at my oversized hoodie and joggers, stuffed into a pair of fluffy socks.
''You haven't been a very good girl–" Sebastian counters.
I blush intensely. ''You knew what you were getting yourself into!'' I retort, picking up my cup to hide my red face for a moment.
