Chapter -15 (Past {Final})

No one's POV (23rd December, 2024)(Night)

The rain fell steadily , a rhythmic beat against the balcony railing , the city usually vibrant was now subdued the clock struck 7:00.

Ishan sat on the chair in the balcony with cup of tea offering little warmth , the dim lamp casted long shadows as he sat alone looking at the rain.

Ishan's gaze was fixed on the rain , his thoughts a somber reflection of the night , the silence was only broken by the rain's rhythm and occasional thunders.

As the night went , ishan remained a silence observer of the storm , the rain , a relentless force , seemed to mirror his inner turmoil.

The door bell rang which made ishan's thoughts of chain broke as he stood upto check he glanced at the clock once 8:03 pm.

Ishan looked surprised as he open the door to see his lover standing there with a blank face and cold eyes.

There is a thunder striking sound while ishan felt his heart broken slightly as he looked at shubman's expressionless face.

He let him in and both of them sat on the couch in the living room with silence surrounding them soon shubman broke the silence “how are you?” he asked.

Miserable. That's what ishan want to say but he controlled himself and directly asked shubman “Do you want to talk about something?” as Ishan finished his sentence he kinda felt his breath shortened.

He stared at shubman's eyes trying to understand him but it didn't happen like it used to be in past his eyes are blank without any emotions.

“Ishan let's break up” shubman said as he stared at his hands while ishan felt his world stop as he heard the words from shubman “shub , are you okay?” ishan asked him as he moved closer to shubman and hold his hands.

“I am perfectly fine , let's end this” shubman said and looked into ishan's eyes “let's end our relationship” he said this time directly staring at ishan's face.

“Just a year ago, things were so different” ishan said as he looked at shubman's with his teary eyes “what changed?” ishan asked shubman leaving his hands.

Suddenly shubman missed the warmth of ishan's hands but stopped himself from doing something that will make everything a mess.

“nothing” shubman said as he took a deep breath trying to calm down his heartbeat “Then? What happened? What happened to us?” ishan asked him putting some distance between both of them.

Shubman looked at ishan helplessly not knowing how to answer him because he even himself don't know what happened between them.

“Ishan accept the situation and move on” shubman said as he stared at ishan's face which is expressionless but his eyes held the emotions that he is getting scared to stare into them because he knows if he did it then it will definitely break him further.

“Is that easy?” ishan asked him looking into his eyes “I knew you were gonna break my heart but a part me really hoped you wouldn't” ishan said as he closed his eyes trying to stop his tears.

“It's not that difficult ishan who knows maybe you have found someone in this last 7 months-” before he could continue his words shubman felt a burning sensation on his face.

Ishan looked at shubman with teary eyes which kinda turn red in anger as he let his hand fall down to his side and stared at shubman who is looking at him with surprised face.

“You don't have any rights to question my love shubman....you lost every right” ishan said as he stared at shubman's face with a blank face and shubman felt the air left his lungs as he  heard ishan's next words.

“let's break up” he said and stand up “I don't need any explanations from you shubman because I knew you never fell out love........ but you changed , you changed in such a way that I couldn't understand you anymore but still my heart is asking why? Please why?” ishan said almost breaking down.

Ishan felt his emotions rushing inside him and his legs gave up but before he could fall shubman held his waist pulling him closer to him.

Both of them broke into tears as they held eachother closer trying to escape from this situation but they knew it's not gonna happen as they both felt tried of everything.

“you don't deserve me ishan a failure like me who don't know how to handle responsibilities , who don't know how to make his people proud of him , you don't deserve a person who don't know how to fight for his loved ones ,you don't deserve a mess like me” shubman said as he held his ishan's face in his hands wiping his tears.

“you don't deserve a mess like me” shubman said as he placed a soft kiss on his forehead “if you started to miss me , remember I didn't walk away....you let me go” ishan said as he let go shubman's hold on him and moved away from me.

Shubman nodded his head with a sad smile on his face while the tears fall from his eyes and he turned away walking to the main door.

'He left'. Ishan's mind screamed to him  as the main door closed and he break into tears again falling on the
floor ‘I deserved a better goodbye’ he thought as broken sobs left his mouth.

Maybe,

They just found eachother at the wrong time and , someday , time will pull them together again..............
