Chapter 4

Willow's POV

We weren't on the road long. In fact, getting to the witch's convenient store was a breeze. After emerging from the woods, we maybe drove at most thirty minutes until we arrived. And let me tell you this, I was relieved. Why? Well I had thought it'd look a little creepy, but it didn't. It looked like a normal rest stop.

"Willow, you okay?"

"Yeah." I narrowed my eyes at the convenient store before turning to my mate in the car. "I just expected a lot more."

"More... Are you saying you expected candles to be floating around randomly?"

My eyes widened before I blushed in embarrassment, earning a laugh from Riley. "Pfft...no. Who'd expect that? Surely not me."

He leaned towards me and pecked my forehead, sending sparks before grinning at me with his perfect smile and heart warming eyes. "Let's go find your dad."

I just smiled at him and nodded. Riley was all in for it when it came to finding my dad. Maybe he wanted to make a good first impression. I don't know, but he was just like that, and I loved him for it.

But what would he do when he found out about the baby?

Instinctively I placed my hand on my stomach before climbing out of the car. Then Riley came around and wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me through the doors of the convenient store. And that's when I saw her. The woman I'd get my answers from. Or rather a girl...she was still in her teens, most likely using a spell.

Ignoring Riley as he tried to keep me by his side, I walked straight up to the counter and leaned over, staring into her eyes. "Hi, I'm Willow, but you already knew that, right?"

She frowned at me and crossed her arms. "I don't know any Willows."

I chuckled and cocked my eyebrow, using what Renee and Alissa taught me to be "the shit." "Okay, I get it, we're trying to keep a low profile. Fine by me. But let's get straight to the point, I need to find my father."

Immediately her features lit with anger, and Riley beckoned me to return to his side. Like always, I went by my gut and ignored him. "Don't we all!" She hissed. "My dad fucking walked out of my life! Is this some sort of joke?"

"W-what?" I stuttered. Is she playing some game to confuse me?

"Look at you!" She growled, sounding feral. "Making a joke out of my life. We all have daddy issues, but don't make a fucking joke out of mine! Who set you up? Was it Terry? I'll beat her ass!"

"I-I don't know what you're talking-"

"Or fucking John? Oh his ass is grass!"

"Listen..." I straightened my back and gave an apologetic look, using my best soothing voice as Riley walked to my side, worried. "I thought you were the witch because-"

"ARE YOU CALLING ME FUCKING UGLY?!"

"N-no- I just-" Just as I was trying to clear things up, the girl pulled out a baseball bat, getting ready to swing for my head. But right when she swung, Riley's hand flew up and caught it, clutching it so tight his knuckles turned white. But when you looked at his face, he was showing his best smile, which sort of concerned me. "Riley?"

"Listen miss, my wife is a little drunk. She gets car sick easily so she downed a beer." In mere seconds, his grip tightened and the baseball bat shattered into wood chips, scattering as the girl's face turned white, eyes widening. "So please, don't take this out on her drunk form."
