TW: Discussions of ED may be triggering.
Mia tried to not acknowledge the men staring at them. 'How on earth could they have beat me to the hospital, I had sped through so many red lights'. She thought to herself. Autumn tightly followed Mia's footsteps, she seemed so small and cowardly towards her father. Reece was left in the backseat whilst the pair seeked medical attention for him. His eating disorder had become too much for him, Roger's comments had become too much for him. The trauma had led him in to believing not eating at all was better then trying to compete with his father's expectations. He needed to be thinner.
Roger and his goons stalked the group of children around the hospital, watching as Reece regained consciousness on a stretcher. The poor boy was frightened, the the bright ceiling lights blinding his vision. Autumn cried and cried holding Mia's hand. She squeezed it tightly trying to release waves of emotions. Autumn had never been the one to open up, her feelings were locked deep inside her heart. But Mia was someone she once trusted, someone who would never judge but listen. As the doctors took Reece in for examination, Mia had manged to soothe Autumn by allowing her to rest upon her lap. The repetitive movement of Mia's gentle palm rubbing her back softly was enough comfort for the young girl to feel safe. Even though she was loosing herself to that devilish man named Roger, she felt forever guilty for having to soon tear apart her relationship with the girl. She never wanted Autumn to spend her nights crying with the weight of the world upon her shoulders, feeling alone as she did. Therefore she cherished these last few weeks before prom night.
Both girls had eventually manged to drift off into a peaceful doze. Once awakened, this peace was shortly disturbed by the sight of Roger, the stench of whiskey still present in his breath. "Ah, nice of you to join us." The man said sarcastically, making them aware he was annoyed at them. "Nice speaking to you too, rog." Replied Mia, her bravery making Autumn chuckle softly. Roger tutted in response.
