Nobody in the neighborhood knew the exact date that Mr Peterson moved in, he had just showed up one day and everybody accepted the fact that they had a new neighbor. This story happened on Halloween in 2012 Halloween was always my favorite holiday and I absolutely loved trick or treating. My dad was a special effects artist so I always got the best costume. That year was my last year of trick or treating,I would be fourteen in the next year and going into high school. I guess it was the feeling that I had to make this Halloween special that made me finally overcome my fear of Mr Peterson. I never liked Mr Peterson that much, there was something so creepy about him, my parents told me he was a very nice man and I was being unreasonable. Now that I think back on what happened on that night in 2012 I realize I had a very good reason to be afraid of that man.
It was a dark night but the light up Halloween decorations and porch lights made the neighborhood seem brighter. Me and my friends had been trick or treating for a while and I was about ready to go home when I realized we were close to Mr. Peterson's house, I had a brief second of fear but I realized how stupid it was and I suggested finally visiting his house this year before going home. My friend Luke was hesitant as he had shared my fear of Mr Peterson but I convinced him that everything would be fine, Mr Peterson was just an old man. Me and my friends all walked towards Mr. Peterson's house and I knocked on the door. Mr Peterson opened the door and smiled at us as he saw our costumes, he told us that he was often lonely on Halloween as most kids were scared of visiting his house. He gave us wrapped candies and we walked away. Walking away that day I wondered to myself why I had ever been afraid of him, there was nothing too scary, sure he was a bit eccentric but he wasn't a monster, at least that's what I thought.
When we got back to my house we all dumped our candy onto the table to trade. The candies Mr Peterson had given them stood out as there were no other prices of candy that matched it, I picked one up and read the name on the wrapper. The candy was called "logum" and it seemed like some sort of knockoff milky way bar or something. Chocolate bars were never my favorite so I traded my bar for a pack of starburst. We spent the rest of the night eating way too much candy and watching nightmare on elm Street. When we finally went to bed it was after midnight. I was awoken around 4:am by the screams of my friends, they were yelling and screaming something about how it felt like their bones were made of fire. My parents woke up and checked on us,they drove my friends to the hospital but there was no way to help them, all my friends died a slow painful death, they continued to scream until their breath was stolen from each of them. I had no idea what happened but I eventually traced it back to those candies that Mr Peterson had given us, I was the only one who didn't eat one, the only one who didn't die. I have no idea what Mr Peterson had done to those candies, but mr Peterson moved away soon after that Halloween, I'm worried hes still out there,I'm worried he'll find me,I'm worried that those chocolate bars aren't his only trick
