The next day, Izuku trudged through the campus, exhaustion weighing heavily on his shoulders. His eyes were puffy and red from a restless night filled with tears and confusion. He barely registered the sounds around him as he made his way back to his dorm, his thoughts consumed by the events of the previous day.
Classes had ended, and the hallways buzzed with energy, but Izuku felt like he was moving through a fog. He had hoped to see Katsuki, to maybe talk things over, but he hadn't seen him once. A knot of worry twisted in his stomach as he walked across the field, feeling more isolated than ever.
As he neared the edge of the field, a loud commotion caught his attention. Shouting and yelling erupted from a crowd gathered in the distance. Curiosity—and a hint of dread—pulled him closer. What could be happening?
Pushing through the throng of students, Izuku felt his heart race when he spotted the familiar spiky blonde hair at the center of the chaos. Katsuki was there, fists flying, his expression a mix of fury and determination. Opposite him stood Monoma, a smug look plastered across his face, clearly relishing the chaos.
"Come on, Bakugo! Is this all you've got?" Monoma taunted, dodging one of Katsuki's explosive punches with a laugh. "I thought you were supposed to be tough! Or are you just a coward hiding behind your boyfriend?"
Izuku's breath hitched at the words. The reminder of the bet—and the hurt that came with it—washed over him like a tidal wave. He wanted to step in, to pull Katsuki back, but the scene before him was too intense. Katsuki was fighting with everything he had, but Monoma seemed to be playing a game, using Katsuki's anger against him.
"Shut the hell up, you bastard!" Katsuki roared, launching another attack. The crowd cheered and jeered, caught up in the spectacle, but Izuku felt a pang of despair. This wasn't what he wanted. He didn't want to see Katsuki like this, driven by rage and frustration.
With a deep breath, he pushed his way closer to the fighting duo, trying to make sense of the chaos. "Kacchan! Stop!" he shouted, his voice barely cutting through the noise.
Katsuki paused, momentarily distracted, just enough for Monoma to land a quick jab to his side. Izuku gasped, not wanting to see him get hurt.
Katsuki grunted, but his eyes flicked to Izuku, a mix of surprise and guilt flashing across his features. "Izuku! Get back!" he shouted, a hint of desperation creeping into his voice.
But Izuku couldn't move. He stood rooted to the spot, torn between wanting to intervene and wanting to let Katsuki handle this. "You don't have to do this! You're better than him!" Izuku called out, his voice cracking with emotion.
Katsuki's gaze hardened, but there was a vulnerability behind it. "I'm not letting him talk shit about you, Izuku!" he yelled back, frustration bubbling to the surface again.
Monoma smirked, sensing the tension. "Aww, look at you! So emotional over your little boyfriend. It must suck to be so weak!"
Izuku felt his heart drop at Monoma's taunts, the words striking deep. He hated to see Katsuki pushed to this point, but he also felt a pang of hurt at being used as a weapon against him. "Kacchan, please!" he cried, desperate for him to stop the fight.
In that moment, something shifted in Katsuki's expression. The fiery anger began to wane, replaced by uncertainty as he glanced between Izuku and Monoma. "Damn it!" he growled, stepping back, his fists still clenched but his stance softening. "I'm done with this bullshit!"
Monoma's grin faltered, confusion flashing across his face. "What? You're just going to walk away? After all that talk?"
"I said I'm done!" Katsuki snapped, turning his back on Monoma and storming towards Izuku, shoulders tense but face resolute. "Let's get out of here, Izu."
