Y/N’s daily life is marred by constant small abuses and manipulations from those around her. People push her boundaries, take advantage of her kindness, and ignore her timid protests. Claire, her seemingly gentle and caring friend and classmate, has been watching this quietly, her subtle obsession growing each time she sees Y/N suffer. One day, when Y/N reaches a breaking point, Claire sees her opportunity and steps in. She offers Y/N a place to stay, presenting it as an act of kindness and friendship.
At first, Y/N is hesitant but eventually accepts Claire’s offer. Claire’s home becomes a sanctuary for Y/N, away from the people who used to manipulate her. Claire is overwhelmingly considerate, making Y/N feel valued in ways she’s never experienced before. However, small oddities start to show in Claire’s behavior—she's extremely attentive to Y/N's schedule, and sometimes her ‘helpful’ gestures feel just a little too intrusive.
Slowly, Claire begins to limit Y/N’s contact with the outside world, all under the guise of protecting her from “toxic” influences. She persuades Y/N to cut off the people who made her feel weak or scared, making it seem like a natural decision. Claire’s protectiveness becomes the new norm, and though Y/N finds herself missing the freedom of her old life, she convinces herself that Claire only has her best interests at heart.
As the weeks pass, Claire’s behavior becomes increasingly controlling. She suggests that Y/N avoid leaving the house without her, promising to keep her safe. She even begins subtly undermining Y/N’s confidence, reinforcing the idea that Y/N is too fragile to face the world alone. Claire takes over Y/N’s daily decisions, from her meals to her clothes, making it seem as if Y/N is incapable of doing so herself.
Y/N began to feel..trapped.
She noticed Claire’s subtle but unmistakable attempts to control her and feels her sense of self slipping away. A moment of clarity strikes Y/N, and she realizes the extent of Claire’s influence. She becomes torn, fearing confrontation but sensing that something is deeply wrong.
Building up her courage, Y/N decides to confront Claire or possibly even leave. However, Claire senses Y/N’s growing discomfort and prepares for this possibility. What follows is a psychological standoff, where Y/N tries to assert her independence while Claire, with her carefully crafted web of care and obsession, counters Y/N’s every move.
And once Y/N had realized what Claire was doing, she immediately tried escaping, running out of Claire's house and never looking back at the home she dared to call a safe haven.
She was never gonna go back there.
Not even how sweet Claire looked like with a smile.
