It was late at night, James was waiting for his little brother to finish up getting ready into his costume for school and Halloween night. James of course would be driving Brady to his school since their parents were out of town visiting Germany for a vacation, why didn't they take them you might ask? Well, it's simple. James is 23 years old and took the job of taking care of Brady, who was 9 years old, until their parents got back from the trip
"Ready to go?" He yelled out to him, waiting for his little brothers voice to echo back with an answer
"I'm ready!!" Brady raced down the stairs in his witch costume carefully taking steps so he wouldn't fall down before getting to his brother and standing right in front of him with the most brightful smile you'll ever see on a 9 year olds face.
Halloween was both of their favorite holidays so you could tell how thrilled Brady was when he figured out his brother would take him and his friends trick or treating, he even said if they do an extra good job on behaving today for school he'll buy them more candy after their trick or treating. That excited them all more
James grabbed his keys and placed on his shoes before leaving the house with his brother holding his hand as they walked towards the car, after getting in the car they buckled up and drove off to Brady's school having small chats here and there whenever they felt like speaking but James and his brother had no problem with it
After about 10 minutes of driving he parked in the school's parking lot waiting for his brother to unbuckle so he could walk him to the entrance, when he did, James helped Brady out of the car and carefully placed him back down on the ground before giving him his backpack and lunchbox that was filled with most of his favorite things inside, jumping around with excitement while they watched other children walking into the school dressed as an alien, astronaut, werewolf, you name it.
Other than Brady, there were many other witches. Female witches but that didn't bother the two brothers in the slightest, after all its Halloween and anyone can be what they want even if it meant dressing as the opposite gender and if anyone has a problem they can talk to James about it cause there was no way disgraceful bratty kids wer gonna ruin Halloween for his baby brother.
They walked towards the entrance where teachers were welcoming in students, James stopped Brady where they were and bent down to face him directly, putting his hands on both his shoulders giving him a loving but worried expression
"Got everything ready for school?" He asked, worried his brother might've forgotten something or had any second thoughts about coming to school wearing his witch costume. But he was mostly about how people would react to see a boy in a witch costume.
"Yes big brother!" Brady giggled out of joy
James nod and gave his brother a small hug before standing back up and staring down at his brother giving him a smile back
Suddenly, the school bell rung hinting that class was about to start, James needed to finish up this conversation.
"Alright, have a good day buddy" James gave his brother a kiss on the head before patting him on the back and watching him happily run into the school where two female teachers greeted him st the entrance complimenting his Halloween costume
This gave James a sigh of relief turning around and heading back to his car, when he did he got in and drove away from the school going to the store to get some candy for any trick or treaters that passed by his house, not that he ass passing our candy but he was gonna leave out two or five big bowls for them to take as much candy as they want just don't take all of it. Even if they did.. He'd find out through their camera on the front porch
He walked into the store grabbing a cart and headed towards the Halloween part of the store staring at all the candy inside of the asle's, he most grabbed some Candy Corn for himself and the other trick or treaters since they were his favorite but he did make sure to get something other than that. People don't only want Candy Corn and it ain't like they only like that type of candy.
He left the store after buying all the candy he needed in his cart, placing them into his car in the same pile with all of the same candies so he wouldn't have to when he got home, after sorting them he placed the cart with the others and closed his trunk before getting inside the car, driving off and out the parking lot to get to his house
Now, James was in his room on the floor with every candy he bought right in front of him surrounding 5 bowls. Good grief this was gonna take a while. Especially due to all the candies he might have left over if none of them go empty, hopefully kids are hungry for some candy tonight.. And if not, well, he'll figure it out.
He began to sort all the candies into small piles before placing them inside of the bowls careful not to put too much or too little into any of them, they needed to be an even amount before James even thought about placing them outside his house. And if not, he'll just go back to the store and buy more candies to even them all out, you can blame his OCD for that (same bro)
Thankfully they were enough to fill up the buckets but now James felt EXHAUSTED from sorting them each one by one just so they would all be perfect. Jesus, Halloween was hard work when it's your favorite holiday, how do people do this?
James placed the basket on a table that would fit all of them near the front door before sitting down on the couch in his living room scrolling on his phone while he waited for the clock to hit 1pm so he could pick up his little brother and his friends, wait until 6pm, leave the bowls outside for trick or treaters, and take Brady and his friends to trick or treat.
--time skip--
James had taken a nap on the couch and when he woke up it was almost 1pm, hurrying off the couch he fell on the floor twice before making it up to his room to get ready, shit. He had forgotten to set an alarm before the nap, goddamn it. What if he's late and his brother and friends are waiting in the cold? He needed to work fast and now
James placed on his shoes quickly and grabbed his keys off his night stand running down the stairs and grabbed his coat before lrushing out the door and over to his car, he got inside the drivers seat and started the car wasting no time from leaving his house and speeding towards his brothers school. He didn't have time to let the car warm up, it was 12:45pm and the school was at least 10 minutes away. Stupid nap, making him late to pick up his brother..
After that 10 minute drive he quickly checked his phone and noticed that it was 12:55pm, oh thank goodness.. Now all he needed to do was wait and relax in his car, which is exactly what he did. James grabbed his phone and scrolled on it as he waited 5 extra minutes for the school to start letting out their kids.
When they did James got out the car and waved the group of kids over to him (that seems creepy honestly), waiting for them to make their ways over to them, when they did he opened the back door for them helping whoever needed help getting inside his car, whenever one was in he drove back to the house
