Clara hung out at her best friend Lincoln's house a lot.

One summer day, Clara was swimming at Lincoln's pool when Lynn joined her. They started talking, and Clara felt a special connection. Lynn, 17 and about to start senior year, was funny and charming. Clara, 15 and entering sophomore year, was hooked.

As they spent more time together, Clara realized she liked Lynn in a different way. She'd blush when Lynn joked with her, and her heart skipped beats when Lynn smiled.

Lincoln noticed and asked Clara, "Do you like my sister?" Clara confessed, worried what he'd think. But Lincoln said, "I'm okay with it. Lynn's amazing."

Lynn liked Clara too. She admired Clara's unique style and laugh. One evening, walking home from a movie, Lynn took Clara's hand.

"Clara, I really like you," Lynn said out of the blue

"I like you too, Lynn."

Clara and Lynn started dating, with Lincoln's support.

They'd sneak glances at school, secret kisses, and visit places together.

When Lynn graduated, Clara felt sad. But Lynn promised, "I'll always be here for you. We'll make this work."

Clara smiled, knowing their love would last.

As Lynn prepared to leave for college, Clara's heart ached. They'd spend countless nights talking, and planning their future. But soon, they'd be apart.

On Lynn's last night home, they sat on the rooftop, watching the sunset.

"I'll miss you so much," Clara said, tears streaming down her face.

Lynn hugged her tightly. "I'll miss you too, but we'll stay connected. We'll video call every day."

Clara nodded, trying to smile.

As the months passed, Clara and Lynn's long-distance relationship proved challenging. Time zones and busy schedules made it hard to find time for each other.

Clara felt Lynn drifting away, and her heart broke. She'd send texts, only to receive brief replies. Phone calls became less frequent.

One night, Clara called Lynn, desperate to reconnect. But Lynn's voice was distant, and Clara sensed something was wrong.

"Lynn, what's going on?" Clara asked, her voice trembling.

There was a pause before Lynn spoke. "Clara, I met someone. Someone here, at college."

Clara's world crumbled. "What about us?" she whispered.

Lynn sighed. "I care about you, Clara, but...I think we grew apart."

Clara felt numb, hanging up the phone. She realized she had just lost the love of her life
