The past few days since the others left for the pre-season testing, I have been keeping myself busy. I knew myself too much that if I have idle time, I would just spend it missing and thinking of Charles. He has been very occupied fulfilling his various Driver Duties for Ferrari, which was the same case for other drivers racing for different teams. Our once chaotic group chat is now very silent. I kind of missed the random pings my notification would have when one of the guys sent a meme or if Alex would send funny TikTok edits of the others. This week has been a true test to our new relationship. I had an idea how famous Charles was but now I am actually understanding the real magnitude of what it means to be a Ferrari driver. It frustrates me that our timing never matched and when it finally does, we're too tired and just end up falling asleep mid-call.
Some days were a lot harder than the others. I never knew that I am capable of missing someone this bad until I started dating him. Sometimes, I would even just call to watch him eat, workout or practice in the simulator just to feel close to him. Charles also expressed the same thing. It made me a little better knowing that I wasn't the only one feeling like this. In his profession he can't afford getting distracted, we already had a preview of what can happen if he becomes too lost in thoughts and I don't want a repeat of that incident. I tried my very best to always smile and reassure him that I am okay and that I am doing so well even if it's hard for me.
I went to bed really late last night, or should I say earlier today at around three in the morning. I was working on a new song that has been playing in my mind. I barely crossed over dreamland when I heard loud knocks and my doorbell ringing repeatedly.
I was getting ready to scold Sofia, because she has a habit of doing this to annoy me, when I noticed that it wasn't her standing in front of my door. In fact, it was not even a single person but two girls that I haven't seen in person for months.
"What are you doing here?" I exclaimed almost in tears.
"Well, we promised we would visit you once our jobs are over, right? Now we're -" I didn't even let Maxie finish what she was saying when I enveloped her and Sammy in my tightest hug.
"I miss you both so so much"
They returned my hug before motioning for them to enter my house.
"Your house looked a bit messy K" Sammy joked
"I haven't had time to really clean lately. sorry for the mess"
"What have you been up to? It's not like you to have a messy place" Maxie asked curiously
"I was working in my studio the past week."
"No babe time?" Sammy asked curiously
"Charles already left for the testing"
"Oooh so that's why. You're missing your boo so much"
"Stop teasing" I playfully scold them
"I'm happy for you K. Now, we just didn't come here to see your house. Sammy and I actually have a surprise for you" I looked at them confused when Maxie gave me an envelope.
My eyes widened as I look back and forth from the envelope and my two friends.
"Oh my god"
