Book 1 of Monte Carlo Series
Escaping her chaotic past, Katrina moves to Monaco to start a new life. With a single bag and a guitar, she sets on a brand new journey to reacquaint with herself and maybe find love along the way.
aria's note : this part was not yet supposed to be published until wednesday but the whole Brazil GP is frustrating. Anyways, here's an update while were waiting for the feature race.

The result of the rest of the free practices was not something Charles wanted Katrina to see. For Free Practice two and three he ended up ninth and fourth. He had apologized over and over again for not showing a better result to Katrina but she had to reassure him multiple times that it was okay. After all, this was just a practice run, what matters is the qualifying and the actual race itself. He didn't disappoint when it mattered the most.
Max qualified in the pole position while Charles was just behind him with only three tenths of a second separating them. The actual race was also close, at some point in the race, he was able to set the fastest lap but Max eventually get the bonus point. It was an exciting battle between the Red Bulls and the Ferraris. In the end, the Red Bulls secured this season's victory with the Ferraris as their runner ups. Max won from Pole position extending his winning streak while Charles ended up dropping two places, with his final position P4.
He was visibly dejected as he lined up to get weighed. He had a good start, if only he can maintain his position. He had never wanted to win or place in a podium so bad than today in this race.
"I'm so sorry I didn't win today" He quickly apologized the moment he reached the garage where his girlfriend and her friends were staying. Katrina smiled and touched his cheeks.
"My love, you don't have to apologize. I don't care if you win or lose, all I care about is that you did your best and you're back with me safely."
"This is your face race... I wanted to win for you"
"There are twenty three more races, twenty three more opportunities to win Charles." She tried to reassure him. She knew that he was a perfectionist, always wanting to do well in his job.
"I'll promise I'll do better next time. I'll make you proud"
"Thank you for wanting to do good my love. Just remember that I am always proud of you regardless of where you end up at the end of the race."

"What's the deal with Maxie and Max?" Charles asked now that they were back in his hotel room.
"Nothing really, they just met when we arrived"
"They are flirting on IG, Max doesn't know how to flirt" he commented laughing
"I haven't talked to Max about it but I know that my friend is kind of interested in him."
"You mentioned none of your friends are interested in Formula 1, how come M likes Max?"
"From what I know, when I told them about all of you, it peeked her interest. She didn't tell me at first but she started researching everyone especially you and Max because I talked about the two of you the most. I only found out about it when she told me about your crash. She told me that she tried watching one of the races that were most suggested on twitter. She happened to watch one of your races with Max and the girl was smitten since them"
"Does she like Max as Max or Max the racer?" he asked trying to clarify.
"At this moment, I don't know love. I think she's genuinely interested with Max"
"That's good. It's been a while since he last dated"
"It's the same with M. It has been years since she last dated, I don't think she would enter another relationship unless she's 100% serious about it. She has too much at stake"
"What do you mean?" he asked confused. She looked at him and contemplated whether she would let him know after all it wasn't her story to tell. It wasn't a secret but it's not something that they just told everybody.
She sighed and decided to let him know. She leaned in and whispered the 'secret' to him. His eyes went wide in shock. Now he understood fully what she meant.
"...That's why I don't think she would enter a relationship without much thought"
"You know, if they do end up together, he would be perfect for M"
"I know... both of them deserved to be happy"
"trina, promise me that you won't play cupid on them... Let them get to know each other on their own if they end up interested with each other"
"I won't meddle love"
Charles motioned for her to come closer to him and when she did, he cradled her in his arms.
"have I told you how happy I am that you are here?" he asked looking down on her
"You did, but I wouldn't mind hearing it again" she replied poking the dimples in his cheek.
"Thank you for being here katrina, you have no idea what this meant to me"
She leaned in and gave him a chaste kiss on his lips.
