Amirah

"Baby", I called softly, glancing up from the dresser where I was putting away the night cream.

"Hmm?", he replied, not looking up from his laptop, his eyes skimming over some documents. Typical of him to be so immersed in work, even this late.

I let out a small sigh, grabbing the lotion as I looked at his reflection. "I'm getting bored at home", I said, trying to sound casual. "It's been five months since our wedding, Faizan. I want to start working now",

He paused, the slight crease in his brow easing as he closed his laptop and looked at me through the mirror. His eyes softened, a small smile tugging at his lips.
"Okay. So… are you thinking about working somewhere new, or would you like to join our company?", he asked, his tone calm and understanding.

The fact that he didn't hesitate made my heart skip a beat. He knew how restless I had been, but he had waited for me to bring it up, never once pressuring me. This was exactly why I loved him. He respected my choices, trusted me to decide on my own.

I sighed, setting the lotion down and moving over to the edge of the bed, sitting across from him. I took a deep breath before speaking, choosing my words carefully.

"Faizan, you know corporate stuff isn't for me. I love you, but spreadsheets, meetings… I will just end up sulking in a corner somewhere", I muttered with a laugh, brushing my thumb over his hand that I had instinctively taken in mine.

He chuckled, eyes sparkling. "Alright, love. So, what is it that you want to do?",

I glanced down at our intertwined fingers. "I want to start my journalist career. It has always been my dream, and I don't want to give up on it just because I got married",

Faizan's face softened. His thumb brushed over my knuckles, grounding me, making me feel understood. He knew that Journalism had always been my passion, something I had dreamed of ever since I was young. But I also knew how conservative his family was, and how difficult it would be to bring up this topic with them.

"I know it might be hard for you to talk to them", I murmured, voice barely above a whisper. "But… it is my dream, and I want to live that",

"Amirah", he whispered, his gaze so tender it almost made me melt. He lifted my hand to his lips, pressing a tender kiss to my knuckles.
"I will talk to Mom and Dad. Alright?",

I blinked up at him, barely able to hide my surprise.
"You will?", I asked, my voice coming out more hopeful than I had intended.
"Yes", he replied with that soft smile that always made me feel like everything would be okay. "Anything for my fluffy",

I couldn't help but grin, the warmth of his embrace wrapping around me as he pulled me close. "Anything, huh? Even if I decide to try out something ridiculous?", I teased, laughing softly against his chest.
"Anything for you", he murmured, his voice was a low hum of affection as he hugged me tight.

And honestly, if anyone else had dared to call me these silly nicknames, I wouldn't shy away from kicking their butt. But Faizan? Well, he was the exception to all my rules.

Faizan

It was Sunday, and like usual, everyone was home. I took a deep breath before finally gathering the courage to knock on Dad's private study door. I had never really asked my parents for anything out of the blue before, so my stomach was twisted up in anxious knots.

"Come in", Dad's voice called from the other side.

Stepping inside, I saw him at the couch, reviewing some paperwork, a slight frown of concentration on his face. Mom was sitting beside him sipping on, presumably, her favorite herbal tea. She smiled at me which I returned with a anxious one.
