You wake up to the sound of buzzing from your phone, and you groggily open your eyes to see what's up. As you squint at the screen, your heart skips a beat when you see that it's a message from Timothee Chalamet. You couldn't believe your eyes - The simple "hello" felt almost surreal.
Without hesitating, you immediately text back, trying to play it cool despite the excitement coursing through your veins. And then, you wait for a response. It doesn't take long, and when his reply comes, your heart starts racing even more. He's suggesting you meet up, so you immediately get ready to meet him at a bakery just down the block.
Ramona tagged along, as you arrive at the little bakery, you spot Timothee sitting at a small table by the window, looking effortlessly charming. You take a deep breath, trying to compose yourself, and make your way over to him. You took a seat in front of him as Ramona got you and Timothee a drink.
"Hey," you say.
"Hey," he replies, flashing you a smile. "Thanks for meeting me here."
"Of course, I love this bakery." You smile.
You chat for a bit, exchanging small talk and getting to know each other. Romana, interrupts your conversation, bearing a tray of freshly baked pastries.
"Ah, perfect timing," Timothee says, eyeing the treats. "I'm starving. What do you recommend?"
You both scan the selection, oohing and ahhing over the delicious-looking croissants and muffins. Romana recommends a chocolate-filled croissant, and you both eagerly agree to try one.
As Romana disappears to fetch your drinks, the conversation turns to your schedules.
"It's been crazy for me lately," Timothee says, leaning back in his chair. "I've been promoting my new movie nonstop. I feel like I've been on a plane every other day."
"Ugh, I can relate," you reply, laughing. "I've been filming Outer Banks nonstop. It's been a ride."
Timothee raises an eyebrow. "I'm shocked. I heard your new movie, Death of the Nation, just came out. I would've thought you'd be busy with that too."
You stop mid-bite, "What? No, I don't know what you're talking about. I haven't heard anything about the movie since it came out, I don't care to look at the ratings or criticism."
Timothee laughed. "Oh, you don't know?" He asks before continuing, "I heard it's been getting some Oscar buzz. You might be nominated."
Your eyes nearly pop out of your head. "What?! That's insane! I had no idea!"
Timothee grins, "I guess you're going to be busy soon, then."
You laugh, "I guess so..."
Suddenly in the corner of you eye you see Drew outside of the bakery, Seeing him around here wasn't out of the ordinary he mentioned that comes in here all the time for lemon cakes. But as he made his way inside he made eye contact with you and began to come your way.
"Dammit." You mutter.
Timothee furrows his brows, "What?"
"That guy," you point in Drews direction, "I used to hook up with him and things didn't end well."
"Alright, I'll play it cool." Timothee whispers as Drew makes his way over to you.
"Mae?" Drew said smiling.
"I'm guessing your not here for the lemon cakes." You say, crossing your arms.
"Can we talk. It's important." He looked serious, "Alone." He says looked between you and Timothee. So you stood up and walked outside so y'all could chat in private.
"I want to apologize for whatever that was the other day. Truly. It was such a dick thing to do even for me." He said with pleading hands.
Tell me about it.
"I'm over it, you can thank Madelyn for that." You shrugged, trying to downplay how you really felt and you also didn't want to dwell on the past, especially not with Timothee waiting for you inside.
"Don't be like that, I know what I did really bothered you. I was wrong to kiss someone else, and I know I hurt you."
You crossed your arms, "You think?"
He sighed, his shoulders slumping in defeat. "I know I messed up. Can I make it up to you? I wamt to take you on an actual date."
You scoffed, shaking your head. "I don't think so, Drew. Being 'girl du jour' isn't something I'm up for."
Drew's face fell, and he looked down, "I'm sorry. I was wrong to assume you'd want that." He paused, taking a deep breath before looking up at you again. "i promise its not like that this time."
You considered it for a moment, weighing the pros and cons. Finally, you nodded. "Fine. One date and ill see how i feel about you."
Drew's face lit up, "Thank you. I promise to be a better man than I was. Im done playing games, you win."
"I was never playing a game I thought you actually liked me," You said, "but just be a decent human being, and we're good."
"Thanks." He says again and you walked back into the bakery and wondered if being with Drew is something you actually wanted.
"Are you ready to go?" Ramona said grabbing her bag. I nodded and we headed for the beach. But as we stepped out the store there were swarms of paparazzi there, someone must've spotted you and Timothee.
"Mae! Mae! Are you dating Timothee?" A girl yelled with a camera shoving in your face.
"No. What the fuck I'm not dating him." I laughed. Instead of speaking of Timothee I diverted their attention to something more important, "Y'all should check out my new film Death to the Nation."
I then climbed into my SUV and Ramona and I headed to the beach.
