When I wake up, it's still a little dark outside. I rub my eyes and yawn as I sit up. That's when my eyes land on Minho. I'm startled for a few seconds until I remember why he's here. I relax and just look at him. He must be so uncomfortable. He's sitting on the floor with his head resting on the bed beside me, just as he was when I drifted off to sleep last night.
"How long you planning to stare?" I hear Minho suddenly mumble. I feel my face heat up and I immediately start to stammer out some kind of excuse. "Relax, Mira...I'm only teasing." He chuckles, stretching out his arms before standing up and stretching his legs out too.
"It's not funny...." I mumble, looking away while I wait for my face to stop overheating.
"Oh c'mon, it is a little." He chuckles again and I shake my head in disagreement. I feel my bed dip slightly when Minho sits beside me. "Alright, alright, you win."
"Good." I nod, only blushing more now that I feel Minho sitting so close to me. I turn my head back to him, thinking I've recovered, but I soon find myself turning a darker shade of red when the back of Minho's hand presses against my forehead.
"Are you alright?" He asks, a little worried. "You're pretty hot." He adds and I quickly finding myself standing up suddenly, misinterpreting his comment for just a moment. He meant temperature, shank...
"I-I'm fine." I assure him, nodding about a million times.
"You sure?" He insists, doubtful. "You were in a pretty bad state yesterday..."
"No, no..." I assure him, shaking my head. "I really am fine. I promise."
"Alright." Minho sighs loudly, but eventually nods as if to drop the topic.
"Why-why don't you go on back to your own bed?" I suggest suddenly, feeling my heart beat rapidly as I watch Minho. I'm standing at the opposite end of the cabin, yet it does little to calm the effect he has on me. "You might want to get some sleep in a more comfortable place before you have to go into the maze today..."
"I'm not going today." Minho furrows his eyebrows. "I told you last night, remember?"
"You were serious about that?" I reply, finding myself mimicking his own expression. "I-I don't want you and Nick to be on bad terms because of me-
"It's not because of you." Minho suddenly stands up, taking just a few steps forward to end up standing directly in front of me. "I promise." He adds quickly. "Nick's just been a little off lately, not just to you, to everyone. I really don't think I can take much more of it."
"Well, maybe you should talk to him about it?" I shrug, my eyes dropping to the ground and my head lowering. He's so close.
"I tried to yesterday, but he just wouldn't listen." Minho groans. "He's never been like this."
There's a pause in our conversation as we hear the walls of the maze open. I follow Minho as he steps outside to take a look. My gaze wanders to the front of the maze, where Nick, Ben and two other runners step into the maze. I hear a gentle sigh to my side and see Minho shaking his head.
"You alright?" I ask, putting a hand on his shoulder. He just nods, staring back at the maze. "So what's the plan today? Since you're not running..."
"Maybe I spend the day with you?" Minho turns to me, a grin on his face. I can't help but smile back, ignoring the blush I know has covered my face that was caused by his suggestion.
"I might just be bandaging people all day." I tell him, seeing a shrug in response.
"Then I'll be your assistant." He suggested. "I can get you equipment and....stuff."
