Scene: The Darkened Throne Room
(The trio steps into the throne room of the demon king, Oblivion. Shadows twist and pulse, as if alive, and the air is thick with an ominous energy. At the far end of the room, a figure cloaked in darkness and armored in jagged, otherworldly metal sits on a massive throne. His face is partially obscured, save for his gleaming red eyes and a cruel smirk that stretches across his face as he notices them.)
Oblivion: (his voice deep and resonant, echoing around the chamber) "Ah, my little Summoner has finally returned. And you've brought… friends." (his eyes settle on Maruo with a twisted amusement) "How quaint."
Maruo: (swallowing nervously but stepping forward) "Oblivion… I won’t let you hurt anyone else. This… this is the end."
Oblivion: (laughs, darkly) "You think you, a trembling little boy, can stop me? You should have stayed hidden like the scared child you are."
Kelly: (stepping beside Maruo, glaring at Oblivion) “Back off, you overgrown shadow! Maruo’s not facing you alone.”
Ronald: (pounding his fists together) “Yeah, and if you think we’re lettin’ you hurt him, you got another thing comin’!”
Oblivion: (rising from his throne, stretching his arms out with a mocking grin) “Very well, then. I’ll make this quick.”
(Without warning, Oblivion sends a wave of dark energy across the room. The trio leaps into action, dodging his attacks and working together to counter them. Maruo summons barriers to shield them, while Kelly and Ronald charge at Oblivion with everything they have.)
Maruo: (panting, his voice trembling but determined) “We can do this… We’re stronger together.”
(As they continue battling, Oblivion’s power grows more intense, filling the room with dark flames. Maruo looks up at Kelly, a desperate, almost fearful look in his eyes.)
Maruo: (softly, almost to himself) “Kelly… if something happens, I just… I just want you to know… that I…”
Kelly: (looking back at him, her voice softening for the first time) “Don’t even start with that. We’re all getting out of here, together. You hear me?”
(But Oblivion’s laughter cuts through the air, louder and darker than ever. He slams his hands down, sending a shockwave through the room, separating Maruo from Kelly and Ronald. Shadows rise around Maruo, trapping him in a swirling cocoon of darkness, isolating him from his friends.)
Oblivion: (mockingly) “Let’s see how brave you really are… without your friends to protect you.”
(Maruo struggles, but the shadows hold him fast. His eyes widen in fear as Oblivion approaches him, his gaze full of malevolent amusement.)
Maruo: (weakly) “No… I can’t do this alone…”
Kelly: (yelling) “Maruo! Don’t you dare give up now!” (she slams her fists against the shadows, trying to break through to him)
Ronald: “Kid! You’re stronger than you think! Remember why we’re here!”
(Hearing their voices, Maruo’s eyes fill with determination. He closes his eyes, reaching deep inside himself, summoning the strength he didn’t know he had. With a burst of energy, he shatters the shadows around him and stands tall, facing Oblivion with newfound courage.)
Maruo: “I’m… not afraid of you anymore. Not as long as I have them with me.”
(Oblivion snarls, and the battle intensifies. Maruo, Kelly, and Ronald work together, wearing down Oblivion’s defenses bit by bit. Finally, with one last combined attack, they manage to weaken him enough for Maruo to deliver the final blow.)
Oblivion: (stumbling back, his form flickering) “Impossible… a mere child… how… could you…”
Maruo: (breathing heavily, looking at him with pity) “It’s over, Oblivion. This world doesn’t need your darkness.”
(With a last defiant scream, Oblivion disintegrates, his form scattering into shadows that dissolve into the air. The throne room falls silent as the oppressive darkness lifts, and a soft, calming light filters in through the broken windows.)
Kelly: (grinning, walking over to Maruo and ruffling his hair) “You did it, Maruo. I knew you could.”
Maruo: (blushing, smiling shyly) “I… I couldn’t have done it without you guys…”
(Kelly gives him a look that’s softer than her usual tough demeanor, and for a moment, they just stand there, looking at each other in the aftermath of the battle.)
Ronald: (clears his throat, grinning knowingly) “Alright, lovebirds, save the mushy stuff for later. We still gotta get outta here.”
(They start to make their way out of the throne room, but as they reach the door, Maruo stops, looking back with a troubled expression.)
Kelly: (noticing) “What’s wrong?”
Maruo: (hesitantly) “I… I still have the curse, don’t I? Oblivion’s gone, but… the darkness I summoned still clings to me.”
Kelly: (frowns, grabbing his hand) “Hey, don’t talk like that. You’re not cursed. You’re just… Maruo. And that’s enough.”
Maruo: (smiling sadly) “Thanks, Kelly. But… I can feel it. It’s like Charlotta said—this darkness isn’t gone.”
(Just then, a faint, ghostly voice echoes in the room, and Charlotta’s figure reappears, looking peaceful but solemn.)
Charlotta: “Maruo… you broke Oblivion’s hold, but the curse is tied to your soul. It’s something only you can carry.”
Maruo: (tears in his eyes) “So… I’m still the one people will fear?”
Charlotta: (nodding) “But you don’t have to carry it alone. There will always be people by your side, even if you feel that darkness.”
Kelly: (squeezes his hand) “Exactly. Besides, if anyone’s got a problem with you, they’ll have to go through me.”
(Maruo smiles, wiping his tears, finding comfort in her words. As they leave the throne room, the camera pans out, showing the faint, dark aura that still surrounds Maruo, a reminder of the curse he now bears. But with Kelly and Ronald beside him, he faces whatever lies ahead with a newfound strength and courage.)
[End Scene]
The ending screen fades to black, with a faint glimmer of light appearing beside Maruo’s dark silhouette. His journey continues, haunted by the shadow of Oblivion, yet guided by the bonds he forged along the way. The screen reads:
“The curse of Oblivion may cling, but true light lies within those who stand by us… no matter the darkness.”
