Note: What ya'll doing for Halloween?
So when I was 25 I finally got myself my own house. It wasn't anything big and needed some work…but nothing you can't fix. To be honest I was happy and excited as this was my first time when I was really living alone in my own place so I didn't mind. It already felt like a miracle that I even had my own place.
One of the things I started to do at some point, hard to tell when exactly, was watching a movie on weekends if I could…I mean I wasn't really annoying anybody by being noisy so there was no harm in doing that. So naturally I also kinda stayed up a bit more later than usual…I mean not really that late, you get the point. And it was fun and everything was great, well I guess that was about to change.
It was just a normal night really…now that I think back to it. I went to the kitchen humming some random pop song I had heard before when driving home. I was about to watch a movie and wanted to make some popcorn for that.
I put the popcorn in the microwave and while waiting for it just kinda walked around the kitchen. It had one window facing the street, I stood in front of it ready to close the blinds…even though it was late already and there wasn't probably much to see outside I still took a look.
And…there was a…person? Just basically standing around under the street light? I couldn't really tell where they were looking. Well maybe they are waiting for someone to go somewhere I just assumed and moved on. Honestly forgot about this encounter if you can even call it that.
A few weeks passed and everything was relatively normal. I had been working around the house fixing it up here and there. And just doing my job…you know…nothing crazy.
It was late at night and I was still up finishing some work that had to be done for tomorrow. I was hella sleepy so I decided that I needed some coffee. The desk in my bedroom was facing the window and when I got up and slightly leaned forward I took a look outside. And…they were back…waiting under the same street light just like that other time. Once again I couldn't tell where exactly they were looking. I assumed that maybe they had some kind of agreement with someone and that was just the waiting and meeting spot…nothing strange about that.
I moved on once again. There was something else though that I couldn't really move on. At first I didn't really notice but shit got a little too weird not to notice.
I have always been the type of person to easily lose my stuff…and later on, sometimes years later, I just find them in strange places. So when a few clothing items went missing I just assumed that maybe I had accidentally misplaced them and I will for sure find them later.
But other things started to go missing as well…and just too many things were going missing for that to be normal. Even for my standards which were pretty low. Honestly I was at a loss.
Like seriously what do you do in a situation like that?I looked around the house. Trying to find any missing items or clues and came up with nothing. Didn't seem like someone had forcibly entered my home or something like that. So were my things just growing legs and walking out on their own without me noticing? I moved on…not because I wanted to but because nothing expensive was missing and again how do you report something like that to the police?
Like hi, hello my clothes and few other things are missing and no there is no indication that they are stolen but can you find them? I didn't think it was gonna work.
I didn't really FULLY move on this time like it was in the back of my mind…but I was still trying to figure out what to do when this next thing happened. One day I went to the other bedroom that was otherwise empty except for a few boxes with random stuff that I didn't know where to put so I just told the movers to put them there.
