Kylie's POV
I'm jolted awake by the loudest knock on the door. I open my eyes, feeling a hand brush against my arm, and turn to see Peder lying next to me-naked. Memories of last night flood back, yikes. I bury my face in my hands and shake my head. Why the fuck did I sleep with him? My usual dislike for him is kicking back in.
"Good morning to you, too," he scoffs.
"Whatever, Peder. For the love of God, cover yourself up."
He grumbles something, annoyed. But then we hear another knock, this time louder and more aggressive. "COMING!" I shout, climbing out of bed.
"Who's banging on the door so loud?" Ruby mumbles grumpy, clearly woken up.
"Someone's hungover," I laugh, pulling on leggings and a T-shirt. Surprisingly, I realize I don't have a hangover at all. First Saturday without one in weeks. Good for me.
"Just open the door," she says, sounding more awake.
I stroll toward the door and, to my surprise, I'm greeted by Dior. "Hey, beautifu-"
"What the fuck did I tell you, Kylie?" she cuts me off. "You ghosted Malia-not over text, but in real life. Are you serious?"
I stare at her, completely baffled. Who is Malia, and when did I ghost her? Sure, I've ghosted people before, but usually over text. Malia? Never heard of her. I open my mouth to say something, but words fail me. I'm lost.
"Well?" she demands, her eyes narrowing. "What do you have to say for yourself?"
I scratch my head, laughing to lighten the mood. "Um...who's Malia?"
Her anger flares up. "Oh my god, Kylie. You can't even remember her name? I know you fuck around a lot, but not remembering someone's name? That's a new low." She practically jabs her finger in my face.
Ruby appears next to me, thankfully backing me up. "Maybe back up a little and calm down," she says.
Dior rolls her eyes at Ruby and turns her head back to me, barely an inch from my face. I hold up my hands, still lost. "The virgin?" she spits out.
The name vaguely rings a bell, but it's not quite there. "Clawdeen?" The memory clicks into place. Ah, that goddess...Malia.
"Right, I remember her now," I chuckle. "You never told me her name yesterday, so I called her Clawdeen the entire night."
"Great. You remember her. Good job, Kylie. But that doesn't make up for ghosting her," Dior says, a bit calmer but still visibly annoyed.
I rub my temples, trying to recall last night. I didn't even drink that much, right? Joshua was the drunk one, not me. And then it hits me, Joshua. Before we found him on the toilet-sitting in his own puke, I told Clawdeen, or rather, Malia, to wait for me because I'd be back. I didn't mean to ghost her, it just happened...
"Dior, I swear, I didn't do it on purpose. Joshua was too drunk, so I-"
"Spare me the excuses, Kylie. I know we're not the closest friends, but I told you not to make her your victim. But you just couldn't resist, huh? You're actually a heartless slut."
My jaw tightens. What did she just call me? Who does she think she is, waltzing in here and calling me a slut in my own apartment? I take a step closer, but Joshua, now apparently also awake, grabs my arm, pulling me back.
"Okay, that's where I draw the line, Dior. You need to go," Ruby says firmly.
"Oh, come on, Ruby. Someone's gotta call her out," Dior fires back.
I clench my fists, fighting to keep my cool, but she's really pushing it.
"Either you walk away now, or I'll have to 'escort' you out," Joshua says, moving protectively between us.
Peder, now fully dressed (thank God), suddenly puts a hand on Dior's shoulder. "You know what? Let me walk you back to the dorms, I'm heading back to mine anyway, all right?"
Dior shrugs, but reluctantly follows him. "Bye, guys. See you."
"Bye, Peder," Joshua mutters, closing the door. "Well, that was intense."
I pace around, ranting. "That was insane, no, she is insane! She barges into our apartment without any invitation, accuses me of ghosting someone, and calls me a slut!? Sure, I might've ghosted the girl, but she wouldn't even let me explain. And the 'slut' part? Come on. I am not a slut."
I look over to see Ruby and Joshua exchanging glances. "What was that?" I demand.
Ruby walks over to the bay window and gestures for me to sit. I look at her skeptically, but sit anyway.
"Kylie," she starts, resting her hand on my knee, "the way she said it was a bit dramatic, but...she's not entirely wrong."
I stare at her, speechless. I look at Joshua hoping he would back me up, but he just stands there, sipping Gatorade, nodding in agreement. So much for having my back...
"I flirt. So what? Dior knows that. It's just friendly flirting, I do it with everyone," I say with a grin.
Joshua joins in, "That's exactly her point, though." Suddenly, he gags and runs to the bathroom. Ruby and I exchange looks and start laughing.
"It's not funny!" he calls from the bathroom, but we can't stop.
After a minute, Ruby regains her composure. "On a serious note, Kylie, Dior had a point... Your flirting isn't friendly anymore. You need to dial it back."
I roll my eyes. "Whatever. I'm going to the gym."
I start to stand, but Ruby grips my arm, looking me straight in the eyes. I hate when she does that. "Kylie, why are you avoiding this conversation?"
I shake her off, heading to the kitchen in search of my keys. "I'm not. I just feel a sudden urge to work out."
She trails after me. "What aren't you telling me?" she asks, arms crossed, her gaze unyielding.
Where are my damn keys? "I'm going to the gym next to the grocery store. You want anything?" I ask casually, trying to deflect.
Ruby just stares, unconvinced. I glance over to Joshua. "Josh? Anything?"
"No, thanks," he says, finally out of the bathroom, still looking worse for wear.
"Alright, well-"
"Kylie!?" Ruby interrupts, her brow creased with concern.
"Love y'all, gotta go!" I say, winking as I bolt out the door. Crisis averted.
