Zhan had fallen asleep in the middle of his bed but his head was at the edge while legs toward the headboard. His black blazer and pants lying on the floor. He was only wearing the white shirt with shorts but the white blanket had covered him. Even if he's covered by the blanket but still he was feeling cold — the weight of the blanket failing to shield him from the chill that seeped into his bones.
The room was dimly lit with sunlight dancing on the walls, mirroring the turmoil within him. He felt a shiver that had nothing to do with the temperature. It was the coldness of his heart, burdened by the conflict between love and responsibility.
As he dozed, fragments of memories flooded in his mind. His chest tightened as he thought of his parents, their hopes resting on his shoulders. He felt himself submerged in the depth of a ocean. He longed to shout out his love for Yibo, to embrace the truth of his feelings but the fear of hurting his parents, of shattering the dreams they had woven for him held him captive. The coldness enveloping him was a reflection of this inner conflict— a stark contrast to the warmth he felt whenever he thought of Yibo.
In that moment, Zhan realized that the true chill he felt was not from the physical world but from the emotional storm raging within him— a tempest of love, fear and the weight of expectation that he could no longer ignore. He curled himself more, clutching the blanket tightly.
But he could heard some faint movements in the room. He ignored it, thinking it's only because of being in halfsleep. But suddenly in the amidst of chilling coldness, he felt a flow of warmth. In the moment of dozing, he felt a pull that leads him in a warm embrace from his behind and he couldn't help but to turned around and cuddle more.
The very familiar oder, the very familiar touch, the very familiar body. As Zhan was half asleep he instantly become aware of the presence next to him. It's Yibo.
"Bobo..." He whispered out.
Yibo hummed as he patted his head. "Are you sick?"
"No... i was just... feeling not that good." Zhan tried to turned back but Yibo didn't let him.
"Why didn't call me?" Yibo softly asked as he tried to see Zhan's face but Zhan lowered his head, not willing to faced him.
"Sorry, i should've inform you that i wouldn't be able to come to office."
Yibo furrowed as he thought something is definitely wrong with Zhan. "Zhanniee~ is everything ok?"
Zhan become quiet or more likely he had no answer to give. He curled his arms around Yibo's neck, pulling himself closer as he snuggled in his neck. "Am ok." He whispered in Yibo's ear.
Yibo frowned but still he showed the utmost caring and affection to his Zhannie. He wedged his hand under Zhan and pulled his leg onto him. His one hand was patting Zhan's back while the other one rubbing on his thigh.
"I think it's time to put some distance between us, Bobo." Zhan thought as he snuggled more into Yibo's neck, tightening his grip as if it's the last time.
