Days passed, and while their friendship continued to flourish, the unspoken words lingered heavily between them. Lilly found herself replaying their conversation in her mind, the "what-ifs" gnawing at her. The tension grew palpable as they spent more time together, each shared laugh underscored by the weight of their hidden feelings.

On a chilly afternoon, they decided to take a walk through the park, the trees shedding their leaves like whispers of change. Lilly felt a sense of peace enveloping her, but it was soon interrupted by the familiar specter of doubt.

"Leaka," Lilly began, breaking the comfortable silence. "Do you ever wonder what could happen if we just... tried?"

Leaka paused, her breath visible in the crisp air. "All the time. But... I'm terrified of failing again."

"Me too," Lilly admitted, her heart aching at the thought of losing what they had. "But isn't that part of love? The risk of getting hurt?"

Leaka turned to face Lilly, her eyes shining with unshed tears. "You're right. But I don't want to lose you, and what if this doesn't work out?"

"What if it does?" Lilly countered, taking a step closer. "We owe it to ourselves to find out."
