As the days passed, the unsettling messages continued. Lilly and Leaka grew closer, yet the fear of the unknown hung over them like a dark cloud. They found solace in each other's arms, but the lingering threat reminded them of their pasts.
One evening, as they sat in Lilly's apartment, Leaka shared a painful memory. "My ex used to threaten me whenever I tried to leave. He made me feel trapped. That's why I've been so hesitant to start something with you. I didn't want to bring that darkness into our lives."
Lilly's heart ached for her friend. "You deserve to feel safe. I promise to protect you, no matter what."
Just then, another loud crash echoed from outside, breaking their moment of vulnerability. "What was that?" Leaka gasped, fear flashing in her eyes.
