STORY
Soonyoung could taste his own blood, but his smile only widened.
His head lolled to the side, a throbbing ache spreading across his jaw where the last blow had landed. His lips were swollen and bleeding, split open by the force of a punch he hadn't seen coming. The dimly lit room around him swayed, his vision swimming as he tried to focus on the two men standing in front of him. They towered over him, their expressions a mixture of frustration and impatience.
"Who do you work for?" one of them demanded, his voice sharp and cutting through the haze of pain clouding Soonyoung's mind.
Soonyoung spat blood onto the floor, the metallic taste lingering on his tongue. He stayed silent, his eyes defiantly locked on the man who had spoken. He wasn't about to give them anything.
The second man leaned in, his breath hot against Soonyoung's ear. "How many members of your organization are here?" he hissed. "We need a number."
Soonyoung hesitated for a moment, then managed a weak grin despite the pain. "One," he said, his voice rough but steady.
The men exchanged glances before bursting into laughter. "Just one?" one of them sneered. "I'll make sure to send you both to your organization in a parcel."
Soonyoung chuckled, a painful sound that sent a fresh wave of agony through his ribs. "If I were you," he said, his voice barely a whisper, "I wouldn't underestimate him."
As if on cue, the door behind the men burst open with a deafening crash. A blur of movement followed—a man charging in, guns blazing, every shot finding its mark with lethal precision. The men barely had time to react before they were down, crumpling to the floor, blood pooling around them.
The man moved with the grace and ferocity of a seasoned predator, his dark eyes scanning the room for any remaining threats. He holstered his weapon and crossed over to Soonyoung, swiftly cutting through the ropes that bound him to the chair.
"You waited until I got beaten to a pulp?" Soonyoung groaned as he rubbed his raw wrists, shooting the man a glare.
"Serves you right for getting caught," The man replied with a smirk.
Once Soonyoung was free, The man turned his attention to the desk in the corner of the room. He rummaged through the papers scattered across it until he found what they had come for: a small, sleek flash drive. He held it up, inspecting it for a moment before slipping it into his pocket.
Speaking into the mic embedded in his watch, he reported, "S.Coups, reporting to base. Secured the flash drive. Agent Hoshi is alive and well."
"I wouldn't say well," Soonyoung muttered, wincing as he touched his bruised jaw.
"You should thank the heavens you're even alive, moron," S.Coups shot back.
They made their way out of the building and into the cool night air, the tension between them easing now that the mission was over. Soonyoung could still feel the adrenaline coursing through his veins, the pain from his injuries dulled by the rush of their escape.
