The car ride over was excruciatingly quiet. Hanni couldn't believe Minji was driving her. Damn, how many cars did Minji have? Seokmin had dropped them both off last night, which meant she had to have a car here. Hanni had never seen this one before. It was a brown Thunderbird. She wasn't sure what kind, but the inside was immaculate and had that vintage car vibe. Had Minji ever even driven this car before? Hanni scoffed; probably not. Fucking rich people. When they arrived at the theater, Minji got out and opened Hanni's door again, surprising her. They walked in silence to the ticket counter. "What movie did you want to see?" Minji asked.
"Um, it doesn't matter," Hanni admitted, feeling strange. Was Minji going to stay? She thought Minji would just drop her off and then head back to her office.
Minji scanned the titles on the overhead screen and picked a romantic film. Hanni almost died when Minji said "two tickets." She couldn't imagine Minji sitting in a dingy theater like this. Minji's taste just seemed too expensive to waste time on something so trivial. An opera house or a museum, maybe... but a cheap, dirty theater with mindless films? Hanni wouldn't have expected that. It just didn't seem her style.
Minji placed a hand on the small of Hanni's back and led her inside. When they reached the concession stand, she asked if Hanni wanted anything.
"Um, just p-popcorn and a drink. Thank you," Hanni stammered. It was too early in the morning for popcorn, but she needed something to keep her attention off Minji once inside the dark theater. After Minji paid the kid behind the counter, she led Hanni to their screen. There were only a handful of people there, so they sat down in the middle row. Hanni was so nervous for some reason. She glanced at Minji, and she looked so normal.
Like this was a... date... or something.
Minji turned to her, and Hanni immediately faced the screen again. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Minji reaching over toward her. God, was she going to stick her hands down her pants? Is this why they were here? That would be embarrassing. She tensed her legs, only to have Minji reach into her popcorn and grab a handful, popping it into her mouth. Hanni could have smacked herself. What kind of floozy was she turning into?
When the movie started, Hanni tried her best not to look over at Minji. Thank goodness it was so dark, so she could sneak a peek here and there. Minji placed her arm behind Hanni's seat, and her stomach fluttered.
Ah! It's not like she had a crush or something. Minji was a cold, calculating, ruthless businesswoman. Not some sweet girl-next-door that you would bring home to mom and dad. No matter how fine Minji was.
During the movie, Minji never laughed or got excited. She only stared at the screen, so Hanni couldn't tell if she liked it or not.
But halfway through the movie, sleep started hitting Hanni pretty hard. She tried to force her eyelids to stay open, but they started to get heavier and heavier. Before she knew it, she was out.
Minji looked over at Hanni, watching her battle with sleep. It finally won, and Hanni leaned her head against Minji's arm. God, she was so beautiful. Sullyoon hated stuff like this. If it wasn't clubbing or expensive lavish parties, Sullyoon would rather not go. Minji had tried to take her to see a film years ago when their relationship was new, but Sullyoon simply turned her nose up at Minji. But here she was with Hanni, actually enjoying herself. The movie wasn't that good, but it didn't matter. Just sitting this close to Hanni, smelling her scent, with Hanni's hair tickling her arm, made Minji relax. She realized how stressed out her work made her. She was sure her men were wondering what the hell was happening. Minji was always available. She never turned off her cell phone. But at least for a couple of hours, she was off the grid. They would have to do without her. Minji stared at the top of Hanni's head, wishing she could lean against her.
