Lighting strikes. Scaring me awake, I look around in my dark room, the moon shining against wooden furniture casting shadows that resembled monsters in a child's nightmare.
Groaning sleepily, I sit up and pull the metal chain on my vintage bedside lamp, illuminating my room with a soft yellow glow.
I blink my tired eyes more than once to make sure I was really awake.
Sliding my slippers on and walking down the dark hall, the walls covered in photos of my great grandparents.
I make my way down the wooden, spiraled staircase, the floorboards creaking under my weight.
I've never been afraid of living in my great-grandparents manner.
I think of it as if it's still the early 1800's, the only spirits haunting this manner is my great-grandparents; they're harmless.
I realize I've never checked the time. I had a book showing at 9:30am, too early for my brain to even process the drive there.I tiredly made myself a cup of tea, sipping on it infront of the window over the sink, peering into my beautiful garden, the sun peaking over the horizon as the heavy rain crashed on the mossy, wooden roof.
