10:30 A.M."FairPlay" by Kiana Lede blasted through the speaker in my room as I sung along while doing my makeup for brunch.
It was going to be me, Jada, Jaren, and of course Ja. But no it wasn't a double date it was just going to be a regular hangout.
Ever since the night me and Ja had that "talk" things have changed tremendously. We never hang or link up alone anymore we only talk in group settings. Like Jaren's house, the arena, or the club and it's always very brief. Also no more sex, late night phone calls, food runs or showering and waking up together.
I was a tad bit hurt that I had maybe misread our little situation and thought he wanted to be more. So I figured distance would be best for us, plus things would've just gotten worse if we would've continued what we were doing.
But hey it is what it is. He seemed to be perfectly fine with our "just strictly friends" status so there's no point in me being sad about anything.
I've actually started to put myself out there more or "mingle" as they say. A few dates here and there but nothing too serious. I'll probably be keeping my options open.
"Hey Siri, FaceTime Jada." I say while pausing the music. I was calling to see how far she was since we were riding together to the brunch spot.
"Hi, beautiful!" She says as soon as the call connected. As she moved the camera I saw Jaren already in the drivers seat.
"Hi pretty girl, I see you're already with Jaren so I guess I'll be driving myself." I chuckle while grabbing my keys off my counter.
"Well see no actually... Ja is coming to get you.. I figured it would be easier because you two live so close and I know you didn't want to drive today." She hesitated knowing the facial expression I would have on my face.
"I know what y'all are trying to do but it's not going to work. Bye now." I say while blowing her a kiss and hanging up the phone. Everyone seemed to be working overtime to get me and Ja back on our old terms. And for the life of me I didn't understand why.
As I was getting ready to look up Ja's number the doorbell rang which meant he was here. I say a quick "help me God" in my head before opening the door.
"Wassup Marie."
"Hello Temetrius, How are you ?" I replied while locking my front door."So that's what you're calling me now ?" He let out a deep laugh as we walked to his car.
"Yep."
The car ride was absolutely silent and not the comfortable type of silence. It was awkward. At this point I was ready to break the silence and just make small talk, because it shouldn't be this weird between us.
But as I opened my mouth he received a call and an unfamiliar name popped up on the screen.
: Karin
We both looked at each other before he answered the call. I didn't think much of it at first but then remembered what I had saw on TheShadeRoom. That was the girl he was spotted with and they had some type of verbal altercation at a club a little over a week ago.
I was trying my hardest to not listen to their conversation but I overheard her telling him that she missed him. He kept avoiding saying he missed her too but he did end up telling her he would be over to see her tonight.
