In the other world, Lilith paced in a dark cave, her wounds slowly healing but her rage growing. The growls of monsters and the flapping of bat wings filled the air, a constant reminder of the twisted realm she ruled. She had failed this time, but she vowed to return stronger and more determined.
At a Pizza Store Near Town
The Bellweathers sat around a large table at a cozy pizza joint. They knew Jane Brenner was starving, and they all wanted to make sure she had a proper meal. William quickly placed their order, while Susan spoke to the waiter.
"Do you have any complimentary food to serve while we wait?" Susan asked politely.
The waiter nodded. "We have garlic bread. Will that be okay?"
Jane, her eyes lighting up at the mention of food, answered, "Garlic bread will do just fine."
Sol was sitting beside Jane, silently watching her. She couldn't help but be amazed by the girl who had survived so much. Jane noticed Sol’s gaze and blushed slightly.
"Is something wrong?" Jane asked, her voice soft.
Sol shook her head, smiling. "No, nothing’s wrong. I’m just glad you’re safe now."
Jane returned the smile, and for a moment, they both felt a sense of peace.
Soon, the food arrived, and Jane didn’t hesitate to dig in. The others watched with a mix of amusement and concern, letting her eat her fill. They knew she hadn’t had real food in months, and this moment was a small comfort after all she had endured.
As they enjoyed their meal, Sol noticed a change in the atmosphere of the restaurant. People were gathered around the TV, watching intently. Curiosity piqued, she stood up and walked over to see what was going on.
On the screen, a news report was playing. The footage showed a shadowy figure appearing in the sky above Ravencroft Mining, only to vanish moments later. The report mentioned strange sounds and flashes of light, capturing the attention of everyone in the room.
Jane joined Sol, her face growing pale as she watched the footage. "This is the beginning of the end," she whispered, her voice tinged with fear.
Sol felt a shiver run down her spine. She could sense that something far more dangerous was coming. They returned to their seats, the weight of Jane’s words hanging over them.
Susan, sensing the tension, decided it was best to stay together. "Tom, Clara, I think it’s best if you stay with us tonight. I’ll call your parents."
Both Tom and Clara nodded, agreeing without hesitation. It was clear that something big was happening, and they needed to be ready.
As they prepared to leave, Jane turned to Sol, her eyes serious. "She won’t stop until she gets what she wants."
Sol looked at her, the question lingering in the air. "What does she want?"
Jane’s voice was barely above a whisper, but the words sent a chill through Sol. "The Phoenix."
