I wake up to see McKenna smiling above me.
"Oh good, you're up. I was about to get a bucket of water." She smirks. "We have half an hour before breakfast."
I decide to take a quick shower, because everyone else is conveniently finished in the bathroom. When I'm done, I dress in my robes, wearing more grey than black today, and brush through my tangled hair. When I'm done, I curl it so it falls in waves at my shoulders, and head downstairs where I find Harry, Ron, and Hermione getting ready to go down for breakfast.
"Mind if I join you?" I ask, Lani and McKenna must have left when I was in the shower.
"Not at all" Hermione replies with a smile, though Harry doesn't seem too happy about this.
We all go down to the great hall and sit at the Gryffindor table. The food has already appeared on the tables, so I load my plate. I can hear Harry, Ron and Hermione whispering to each other, and I pick up a bit of their conversation.
"I don't know, it's just that whenever she's around, my scar hurts." Harry whispers.
"Hmm... you haven't noticed this before?" Harry shakes his head. "Maybe we should avoid her for a while. Last time your scar hurt, you-know-who was in Hogwarts. I hate to say it but maybe Vanessa is associated with him, has her presence ever made your scar hurt before or is it just recently?" Hermione whispers back.
When I hear this, I scoff. They can't be serious, I'm sure this must be a prank. The three of them hear me and turn and look at me, and I return my attention to my food, acting like nothing happened. They aren't going to get a reaction out of me.
A piece of crumpled paper hits me in the head, and I look to my left to see Fred snickering down the table a ways. I roll my eyes and flatten out the paper. Written in Fred's sloppy handwriting, are the words 'remember, 10:00pm'. Like I would forget.... if anything, the boys would forget and leave me waiting in the common room all night.
McGonagall walks up and down the table, handing out our timetables. I groan when I get mine, because I see that the 6th year Gryffindors and Slytherins have Double Potions together right after breakfast. That's not the best way to start out the school year. For the remainder of our time at breakfast, I drag out the process of eating, hoping to take my mind off of our first class, but to no avail.
Eventually, breakfast officially comes to an end, and we all reluctantly head down to the dungeons. I'm glad, at least, that we all have this class together, it's probably the worst one with Snape teaching it, though Potions is my best subject, ironically. I find Lani and McKenna and take a seat between them, the twins and Lee end up sitting behind us. Students slowly trickle in, and the classroom starts to fill up.
When everyone is present, Snape starts explaining how we will be spending our class time. We are to create an invisibility potion. Those who finish can leave as soon as they were done, and those who do not finish will have to write an essay about the uses of dragon fruit.
When he finishes, he lets us get started. I head to the cupboard to grab my supplies, but I can't reach the cupboard. I had apparently forgotten about this problem over the summer holidays... why do I have to be so short? Why do the cupboards have to be so high up? How do the first years reach it, is there some kind of stool around here?
"Having trouble?" Fred and George ask at the same time.
"Obviously" I mutter, annoyed.
Fred and George do nothing but watch me struggle.
"Are you going to help me?" I ask, glaring at them.
"No, I don't think so." The twins say at the same time.
