I can't believe he actually performed an unforgivable curse on me!
"That has to be illegal." I say with a murderous tone for about the twentieth time this hour. "I'm telling Dumbledore."
"You should. I'll come to back you up." Lani repeats her words as well.
"It was bad enough using the curse on insects, but on students! I thought he was supposed to be an auror!" I mutter once again.
"Can we stop having the same conversation?" McKenna finally asks. "I mean, I agree but repeating this conversation isn't going to help."
"You're right. I need something to take my mind off of this." I sigh. I look around the common room, I only have an hour before my next class, so I'd better calm down quickly.
"You could help us prepare Harry for the third task. We have no idea what it will be so he needs to be prepared for anything." Hermione suggests, appearing behind us. "We were just going to the library."
"Alright." I sigh. "You guys want to come?" I ask Lani and McKenna.
"Not me, I've got plans with George." McKenna says.
"I'll come." Lani shrugs.
"Alright, see you, McKenna." I say.
"See you."
I walk with Lani and the golden trio to the library, though Lani and I pretty much end up on our own, Hermione's 'training exercises' are too intense for us to keep up with, let alone help to train Harry with them. Still, it's good to be in the library, a place I've always come to clear my thoughts, and I'm sure that Harry will be ready for the third task, which is in a month, with Hermione whipping him into shape.
When our free hour is up, Lani and I leave the library to meet Mckenna and the twins for Transfiguration. I end up sitting next to a Slytherin boy, who keeps trying to flirt with me, because all the other seats are taken. Fred, who is sitting on my other side, looks like he's going to explode. Half way through the class, I decide I've had enough when the obnoxious Slytherin tries to play with my hair. I don't say a word, but with a small flick of my wand, I turn his green tie into a long, scaly snake. He screams, but I change it back before McGonagall can see. He ends up getting two detentions for disrupting class. Fred snickers and wraps his arm around my shoulders, inching his chair closer to me.
After I've taken care of the obnoxious Slytherin, it's easy for me to concentrate on transfiguring myself to acquire extra powers, using the spell 'Crinus Muto' which changes hair color, and/or adds facial hair. It's similar to a charm we learned a while back that changes skin color, and I was able to do that easily enough. I try not to laugh as I remember how I turned Fred's skin a deep red, and how it clashed horribly with his hair. That seems like it was a lifetime ago.
When class is over, we leave with our hair tinted in assorted colors, but use the charm 'Finite Incantatem' to change it back to normal before potions, as not to get in trouble again. In class, we practice a wit sharpening potion, which clears the mind. Potions is a breeze for me, so I finish half way through the class, leaving with my potion a dark orange color, and an assignment for an essay on wit sharpening potions.
Since all of my friends are still in class, and potions is the last class before dinner, I return to the common room and start on my essay, determined to keep my mind off of Defense Against the Dark Arts class. I pull out a quill and a roll of parchment and begin to write.
'Wit-Sharpening Potions: These level seven potions are made using three ingredients; ground scareb beetles, cut ginger roots, and armadillo bile. These potions allows the drinker to think more clearly. Because of this, it acts as a counteragent for the confundus charm...'
"Nessa, you aren't seriously doing your homework already?" A familiar voice asks, I look up and am not surprised to see Fred frowning at me.
"I had nothing else to do, all my friends were stuck in class." I say, sticking my tongue out.
"Yeah okay." Fred rolls his eyes. "Come on, I want to show you something."
"Just let me finish this." I say, looking back at my essay.
"Nope." Fred laughs. I don't get to write a single word before he's slung me over his shoulder. Why does everyone do that?
"Put me down!" I try to say this seriously but I end up laughing.
"Will you come with me if I put you down?" Fred questions.
"...Yes." I say after a moment of thought.
Fred puts me down and I make a run for it, to tease him, I know I won't get far. I'm right, I don't make it three steps before his arms wrap around my waist and pull me back to him.
"Come on." He laughs, letting go of me. I sigh and walk alongside him. My essay will just have to wait.
Fred leads me to the tallest astronomy tower, where you can clearly see every star coming out of hiding, one by one. Add in the pink and gold remnants of the sunset, and it becomes picturesque.
"This is amazing." I breathe out.
"I thought you'd like it." Fred smiles, pecking me on the lips before resting his chin on my forehead.
Soon, it is time for dinner, and we leave the astronomy tower together. As much of a fight as I put up, I actually really enjoy these little moments. We eventually reach the Great Hall, and sit down at the Gryffindor table next to George, Lani, and McKenna, with the golden trio across from us. Lee hasn't been around us as often anymore, for some reason. Lani seems to know why, but refuses to talk about it. I push the thought from my mind as I eat, noticing that the house elves have been making an effort to include some of the foreign delicacies that our guests may enjoy.
When the food disappears and is replaced by dessert, I immediately dish myself a slice of chocolate cake, my favorite, and Fred tries to eat it off of my plate, as he did on our first night back at the school. He manages to snatch a bite, and I stare him down.
"Are you sure you want to come between me and my food?" I ask, raising a brow at him.
"Well, last time I did, you tried to kiss me so..." Fred trails off, smirking.
"That is NOT what happened" I protest. Fred smirks and waves his fork in front of my face. I stare at him seriously until he pouts. My face softens, and I lean in, pressing my lips against Fred's. He scoots closer, dropping the fork, which I promtply pick up, and cupping my face. I feel Fred smile into the kiss, and flick his tongue across my bottom lip. I pull away, though, because as much as I want to melt into the kiss, we're in public. Fred smirks when he opens his eyes. I raise an eyebrow. Fred rolls his eyes and sticks out his tongue, wiggling an eyebrow at me. I scrunch up my nose. Fred suddenly seems to notice that I managed to get his fork, as the smirk melts off his face without any warning.
"Do that somewhere else next time." George says, rubbing his eyes as if he hopes to erase the image of Fred and I kissing by doing so.
I just shrug and pull the piece of cake off of Fred's fork and plop it into my mouth. Victory is delicious.
