Item #: SCP-5822
Object Class: EuclidSpecial Containment Procedures:
SCP-5822 is contained in a reinforced chamber at Site-██, equipped with four (4) Scranton Reality Anchors (SRAs) to maintain stable Hume levels within a 10-meter radius of the entity. All personnel entering SCP-5822's containment area must wear protective reality stabilization suits and carry portable Hume sensors to monitor local reality fluctuations.Any deviations in Hume levels beyond a 5% threshold must be logged, and fluctuations exceeding this threshold must be immediately reported to Site Command for further analysis and intervention. In the event of a containment breach or severe Hume level drop, additional SRAs are to be deployed as per Protocol 5822-D.
Description:
SCP-5822 is a humanoid entity, approximately 1.75 meters in height and of indeterminate age and ethnicity. SCP-5822 passively alters local reality by lowering Hume levels within its immediate vicinity. The entity's anomalous properties distort the baseline reality surrounding it, resulting in unpredictable effects on physical objects, space, and natural laws. These reality fluctuations manifest as localized phenomena, including:
• Temporary disappearance of solid objects.
• Distortion or alteration of physical laws (e.g., gravitational anomalies, inconsistent molecular structures).
• Spatial inconsistencies, such as walls or floors warping, expanding, or contracting.
• Time dilation, though typically limited to a few seconds.SCP-5822's Hume fluctuations become more pronounced in response to heightened emotional states, particularly stress or fear. The entity appears unaware of its own reality-altering abilities, and the effects are not consciously controlled. Despite the potential for dangerous reality distortions, SCP-5822 itself is generally docile, complying with containment procedures when not agitated.
Incident 5822-C:
On ██/██/20██, during a routine inspection of SCP-5822's containment chamber, a brief containment breach occurred when one of the SRAs temporarily malfunctioned. This resulted in a sharp drop in Hume levels surrounding SCP-5822. The immediate area, including several personnel and containment infrastructure, temporarily vanished from baseline reality for approximately three (3) minutes. During this time, all individuals within the affected area experienced a complete sensory blackout and reported no awareness of the passage of time.Once additional SRAs were activated and the Hume levels stabilized, the affected portion of Site-██ returned to normal reality with no lasting damage. SCP-5822 was re-contained successfully, though it displayed visible distress throughout the incident. Increased SRA deployment has since been implemented in SCP-5822's containment procedures to prevent future incidents.
Addendum 5822-A:
Following Incident 5822-C, research is ongoing to explore the limits of SCP-5822's reality-altering capabilities. Preliminary analysis suggests that SCP-5822's effects extend to an estimated 5-10 meters under normal circumstances, though this range increases dramatically during emotional spikes. Foundation efforts are now focused on developing more precise methods of predicting and mitigating SCP-5822's influence on baseline reality, with further testing suspended pending additional containment safeguards.End of SCP Log
