Maya's pov:
The sound of my alarm made me jolt out of bed.
"Holy shit!" I yelled as I jumped from the nice and warm spot I'd been laying in. It was the weekend and I had forgotten to turn off my alarms.
"Of all days, Why today?" I mumbled as I rolled over to check the time. It was 7 am in the morning on a Saturday in the middle of October. I rolled out of bed and stumbled over to my bedroom window. I pulled back the curtains to reveal nothing but the darkness of the morning.
"The sun hasn't risen yet, why am I even awake?" I questioned as I closed the curtains and returned to my spot in bed.
"I'm going back to sleep." I groaned as I pulled the cover over my head. As I tossed and turned, I realized it was no use. I wasn't going to be able to fall back asleep. I turned my TV on desperate for something to side track me for a little while.
"What should I watch?" "Hmm... Maybe I should finish this one?" I say as I clicked play on My Demon on Netflix. As I laid there, the boredom kicked in.
"This isn't going to work." I sighed as I clicked pause. I sat there pondering on what to do next until my stomach started growling.
"I'm hungry. I want fruit." I think to myself as I got up from my bed. I walked down the stairs to the kitchen to see what I could find.
"Where's my watermelon?" I think to myself as I shuffled through the refrigerator.
"Did I already eat it? Or did someone else eat my fruit?" I was so deep in thought that I didn't hear my twin brother Max come down the stairs.
"What are you doing Maya?" Max suddenly asked.
"Holy shit! You scared me. Don't be sneaking up on me like that." I yelped as I spun around.
"What are you looking for?" He questioned.
"My watermelon. I'm sure I put it in the fridge on this shelf yesterday." I grumbled.
"Oh. Um..." He mumbled. "Me and Eric ate it last night for a late night snack."
"Eric?" I froze. The name of the one person I despised the most. He was my brother's best friend and our next door neighbor.
    *flashback*
Max and Eric had been inseparable since the first day they'd met. Eric's parents had just moved in to the house right next to ours and our mom had suggested we take them some baked goods to welcome them to the neighborhood. I absolutely hated the idea, but was dragged out of the house by my brother. We arrived on their doorstep, and my mom knocked on the door. Within a few seconds, the door opened. There was a beautiful woman standing there with a slight pink tint to her cheeks.
"Hi. My name is Lola. I'm your next door neighbor and I wanted to bring over some baked goods to welcome you to the neighborhood." My mom said with the nicest smile.
"Oh. Well thank you. My name is Mira. Mira Sohn." She said shyly. "And who may these little sweethearts be?" She asked looking straight at me and my brother.
"I'm Max!" My brother said excitedly as he reached out to shake her hand.
"And you are?" She asked looking at me. I was currently peeking around my mother's side, just looking at this woman who I didn't know.
"She's quite shy." My mom explained. "It's ok honey, tell her your name." She looked down to me as she placed her hand on my back and gave me a little push.
" I... uh I'm... Maya." I managed to finally say as I return to my original place behind my mom.
My mom and Mira giggled.
"Please come in." Mira says inviting us into her home. "Please sit wherever you'd like while I place these baked goods on the counter."
We walked through the door into this beautiful home. Boxes set everywhere around the house waiting to be unpacked.
"My son should be around here somewhere. He's around your age." She stated looking out into the back yard checking for her son. "ERIC!!" She yelled.
"Coming mom!" A little voice from the back yard spoke. Not long after a little boy came running through the back door. "This is my son, Eric." "Eric, these are our new neighbors. This is Mrs. Lola and these are her children, Max and Maya." She spoke softly to the boy. The boy stood there staring at us for a moment til my brother walked up to him and said. " Hi! I'm Max! Let's be friends." That was the beginning of their friendship and the beginning of never having a moment of peace around my house.
*end of flashback*
"Long time no see Maya." I suddenly hear from the stairs. I turn around to find myself face to face with the one and only Eric Sohn.
