This one shot is based off of the book "the inheritance games"
The sprawling estate of the Hawthorne family was unlike anything Harry had ever seen. Towering ceilings, elegant chandeliers, and walls adorned with portraits of long-gone ancestors—it was a world apart from his humble beginnings. As he stepped through the grand entrance alongside Louis, a rush of excitement mixed with anxiety surged through him.
"Can you believe we're actually here?" Harry murmured, glancing at Louis, whose expression was a mix of awe and mischief. "We should probably be careful. This place feels like it's straight out of a mystery novel."
Louis chuckled, brushing his shoulder against Harry's as they moved deeper into the estate. "What's the worst that could happen? It's just a mansion filled with riddles and puzzles, right? Plus, we've faced worse than a few old family secrets."
Harry smiled at Louis's unwavering confidence, his heart swelling with affection. The two of them had been inseparable since they first met in high school, and now they found themselves on this wild adventure, ready to unravel the mysteries surrounding the late Tobias Hawthorne, a billionaire whose fortune had recently been left to Harry after a strange turn of events.
They navigated through the hallways filled with curiosities—ornate vases, intricate tapestries, and shelves of dusty books—each corner brimming with stories waiting to be discovered. Louis, ever the charming daredevil, led the way, his curiosity igniting a spark of joy within Harry.
"Hey, let's check out that library!" Louis exclaimed, pointing to a set of double doors at the end of the hallway.
"Are you sure it's a good idea?" Harry hesitated, glancing around as if waiting for a ghost to appear. "What if there's a trapdoor or something?"
"Then we'll make a thrilling escape together!" Louis replied with a grin, pushing the doors open. The library was massive, towering shelves filled with books reaching toward the ceiling. A large fireplace stood at one end, the rich scent of old wood and leather filling the air.
Harry stepped inside, feeling a sense of calm wash over him. He loved books—there was something about losing himself in a story that made everything else fade away. Louis, however, was already skimming the titles on the shelves, his excitement palpable.
"Look at this place!" Louis said, pulling down a thick volume and flipping through the pages. "It's like we've stepped into a time machine."
"Maybe there's a secret message hidden in one of these," Harry suggested, the thought sending a thrill through him.
"Or a treasure map!" Louis added, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
They spent the next hour exploring the library, laughing and sharing snippets of information about the Hawthorne family's history. As they delved deeper into the pages, they discovered hints of riddles left behind by Tobias, each clue leading them further into the estate's secrets.
"Look at this!" Harry said, holding up a faded piece of parchment. "It says something about a hidden room. 'Where the heart lies, the key shall be found.' What do you think that means?"
Louis leaned closer, his shoulder brushing against Harry's, sending warmth coursing through him. "Maybe it refers to something sentimental, like a family heirloom or a love letter. The heart could be a metaphor."
Harry's breath caught in his throat as he felt the weight of Louis's words. He had never thought of love in such an intimate, tangible way. "We should find it," he replied softly, looking up to meet Louis's gaze. "Together."
With renewed determination, they continued their search throughout the estate. They followed every lead, every clue, each adventure bringing them closer together. The tension of the unknown was thrilling, but nothing compared to the connection they shared as they navigated the labyrinth of the Hawthorne legacy.
