Newt had finally woken up. He said he felt better but they didn't believe him, only pretended they did to make things easier for him.Clint went to get lunch for the others who wanted to stay in the Med-hut with Newt: Jaz, Jeff and Minho.
"How's your leg feeling now?" Jaz asked, raising an eyebrow.
"You asked me that before," he said quite bluntly, not being like his usual self, strange?
"I'm just trying to check up on you!" she held her hands up in defence, trying not to smirk while doing so.
She gave him a wanting look and he somewhat rolled his eyes and sighed.
"Not too bad now. At least I can't see my bloody bones," he replied with an almost fake smile. "How long did it take?" he asked.
"How long did what take?" she said, a tad sleepy after all of that work with only an hour's sleep.
"To put the bone back in my bloody leg, idiot," he said sarcastically with a small eye-roll.
"Ohhhh. Like... 4 hours, so not too bad for first-timers," Jaz said proudly, raising her shoulders and grinning a little at how well she, Clint and Jeff did.
They all went quiet for a moment, trying to find the right time to ask the question they all wanted to know the answer to.
Before one of them could ask, Newt asked the question that had been on his mind since the minute he found himself back in the Glade.
"How did you even find me? Our routes were completely different yesterday," he directed the question right at Minho, making the others look at him as well.
He sat with his mouth quivering, not knowing how to answer without telling the truth. Since he read Newt's notebook this morning, he'd been thinking of all of the possible solutions as to why he'd write about the length of the walls and if the ivy went all the way up. He could only think of 2 things. He prayed that it was the first thought he had, he wouldn't be able to cope if it were his second thought.
"I-I heard a scream. I thought that you'd seen a griever or something and I didn't want to risk not coming to help. It was a good job I did or... or you'd be dead," he finally spoke up, telling the truth of what he thought at that moment and nothing more.
All he did was hum in reply and then went quiet again. Jaz opened her mouth to ask the question of 'what actually happened yesterday' when all of a sudden a deafening alarm split across the whole Glade, surprising everyone sitting in the Med-hut.
"Is that the greenie alarm?" Minho's eyebrows shot up, checking his watch which also had the date at the bottom in smaller writing than the time.
"Isn't it a bit early for them to be coming up?" Clint asked, trying to peep at Minho's watch. Being oblivious Minho moved his arm out of sight and Clint jerked back, a little startled.
"Yeah... I'm gonna go see, I don't normally get to see the greenies straight out the box!" Minho shot up out of his chair excitedly and waved the others off before they could tell him to stay there.
"What if it's a girl this time? I'm gonna go see as well, Clint you mind staying here with Newt until Jeff gets back?" Jaz pleaded. She knew Jeff probably wasn't even getting the food anymore and was waiting at the box for the Greenie to come up now, but she said it anyway.
"Sure, come straight back if it is a girl this time," he considerately replied with a warm smile.
"Thanks! See you in a bit," she shuddered her shoulders at them and sent him a warm smile back. Then, ran out of the Med-hut for the first time since yesterday afternoon.
