When Glenn returned to his doorstep, he sniffed a little to make sure Black Crow had been here.
He took out the key from under a stone and opened the door of his house.
The things were all placed behind the door. He knew that Black Crow probably hadn't gone inside. He just put down the things and left directly.
He really does things simply... Sighing in his heart, Glenn picked up the things and entered the house.
He had to think of a way to preserve the pork he got in the morning for a longer time. There is no refrigerator in this world, so he decided to use the traditional method, that is, smoking meat.
It seems that there is freezing magic in this world. He had to find out about it when he had the chance. Then he wouldn't have to worry about keeping food fresh... Glenn's thoughts were wandering as he dealt with the things in the kitchen bit by bit.
...
Today, Leila experienced an unforgettable despair. She couldn't imagine how she would face life if she lost her mother. Fortunately, a kind gentleman saved her life.
"My child, you must thank that kind gentleman well. In such a world, there are very few people like him." Mrs. Deli, Leila's mother, patted Leila's hand and said. "You are a girl who knows how to repay kindness. I am very sure of this."
"Okay, Mom. Tomorrow I will find out where Baieyk Town is. If possible, I will call my friends to go together." Leila replied to her mother gently.
"That's fine too. Just pay attention to etiquette. It's best if your friends don't do anything that leaves a bad impression."
"Don't worry, Mom. They are all very polite people."
While talking to her mother, Leila unconsciously recalled her impression of Glenn.
That was a thin young man. He seemed not much older than herself. Compared with the people around him, he had a different kind of temperament. His eyes were always calm and composed. His clothes were as simple as hers. It was such a person who always made her unconsciously think back.
There always seems to be something different about him. What exactly is it... Just as Leila was gradually drifting off in thought, her mother's words pulled her thoughts back.
"We should probably consider moving again..."
There was tiredness on her mother's haggard face.
"Moving again?" Leila found it hard to accept. She had lived here for several years and had known many friends and neighbors. Moving meant separating from everything she was familiar with.
They had moved twice before. Every time they had to adapt to the new environment again. This was very unfair for a fifteen-year-old girl.
"You also know that your father found us again. He almost took my life today. If there hadn't been police officers patrolling nearby, I don't know what would have happened." Mrs. Deli held Leila's hands and there was pain in her eyes.
"I know, Mom..." Leila looked at her mother's face with remaining injuries and saw the pain in her mother's eyes for her. Clearly her mother was the one who was injured. What was her own little grievance compared to this?
...
It was already very late when he came back yesterday. Coupled with dealing with the kitchen, Glenn didn't wake up until eleven o'clock in the morning.
He rubbed his sleepy eyes and opened the window on the second floor. He saw the old neighbor coming back from outside the town holding a Rottweiler puppy.
This old man really loves dogs! Glenn leaned on the bedside and greeted down below. "Good neighbor! Where did you buy the dog? It looks pretty good!"
Suddenly hearing such a loud voice on the quiet street of Baieyk Town, the old man was startled. He looked viciously at the source of the sound. When he saw it was Glenn, his expression froze for a moment, and then he snorted and ignored him.
Glenn smiled and then retreated into his house and began to wash up.
Suddenly remembering something, he whistled out of the window. Immediately, a giant beast rushed out of the fog in the distance and quickly came to Glenn's house.
The beast squatted down below, as if waiting for orders. There was a focused light in its faintly glowing eyes.
"Go guard in the forest outside the town. If you encounter a girl coming, protect her in the dark." Glenn poked his head out and gave an order.
The beast seemed to straighten up its body, as if saluting. One felt that if it could speak, it would blurt out: Yes, sir.
Then it rushed out of the town like the wind.
Today Glenn was going to remodel the furnishings in the house, especially the fireplace. Since it was closed, he couldn't smoke meat. He had to make some changes.
As soon as Glenn started to break open a corner of the fireplace made of bricks and stones, with his sensitive ears, he immediately heard that something was wrong with the sound coming from below.
He put down the tool hammer and knocked gently on the floor.
Thump, thump...
After some probing, he found the location where the abnormal sound came from. Although it was very subtle, he did find it.
Is it empty below? Glenn's face showed surprise. When the original homeowner introduced it, there was no mention of there being a basement or anything like that in this house.
Driven by curiosity, Glenn searched around the house to find an entrance to go down. Unless it was absolutely necessary, he didn't want to damage his own floor.
With intention, a trapdoor hidden under a large wooden cabinet in the storage room was found.
The trapdoor was wrapped with rusty iron chains. One could see that the person who did this was very reluctant for anyone to enter below.
But this was useless for Glenn. He just used a little of the power of a werewolf and broke the iron chain and opened the trapdoor.
There was a wooden staircase leading down.
A musty smell came from below. Glenn, with his sensitive sense of smell, frowned but he didn't back down.
He found a kerosene lantern at home, lit it, and then quietly walked down the wooden staircase to under the trapdoor.
When his foot stepped on solid ground, Glenn saw the scene here in the light.
The first thing he saw was countless mice squeaking and hiding into the darkness. Then there were several old bookshelves. The books on them had been gnawed and were in a dilapidated state.
On a decayed wooden round table were miscellaneous items. Bottles and jars like glass products were scattered under the table. They were all broken and the liquid inside had leaked out.
Glenn visited this basement lightly, making sounds of admiration continuously. He never expected that there was such a place under his house.
He casually took a relatively intact book from the bookshelf and opened it.
"Holmogen something is the second alternative of what... Sigil..." Glenn read a paragraph with difficulty. In the end, he closed the book and complained in Chinese, "Damn! What the hell is this written? I can't understand it at all!"
He put the book back on the bookshelf and rummaged through the miscellaneous items on the round table. They were all some drafts and containers. There was nothing worthy of attention, so he continued to explore the basement.
Since it wasn't very large here, he explored it quickly.
To Glenn's great disappointment, there was almost nothing of value here.
But just now he found another door and pinned his hopes on what was behind that door.
Hopefully there are a few good things inside... Standing in front of that door, Glenn took a deep breath.
This door was made of dark brown wood. There were simple patterns on it. The frame around it was engraved with runes.
There was something like a clock on the top. But this thing only had one pointer. The dial was divided into five areas written in strange characters and evenly distributed on the dial.
Now the pointer was pointing to the area directly above.
When he turned the doorknob, with a click, the door slowly opened. Glenn didn't notice that at the moment he opened the door, the character pointed to by the pointer on the disk above glowed slightly.
