It was a bright Tuesday morning at school, and the excitement in the air was palpable. Sweden was about to celebrate his 13th birthday, and he could hardly contain his enthusiasm. As he walked down the hallway, he noticed colorful balloons and a big birthday banner hung over the entrance to his classroom, courtesy of his classmates.

“Happy birthday, Sweden!” his friends cheered as he stepped inside. His heart swelled with joy.

“Thank you, everyone!” Sweden beamed, feeling grateful for the warm welcome.

Ms. Sandvik, their cheerful teacher, clapped her hands to gather everyone’s attention. “Alright, class! Let’s sing for our dear Sweden!”

With smiles on their faces, the students began singing “Happy Birthday.” Their voices filled the room, creating a joyful melody. Sweden felt a warmth in his heart, realizing how lucky he was to have such supportive friends.

As they finished singing, the classroom erupted in applause.

“Thanks, everyone! You’re all amazing!” Sweden said, feeling a little shy but happy.

“Wait, there’s more!” shouted Norway from the back, grinning widely. He handed Sweden a beautifully wrapped present. “Open it now!”

Sweden carefully tore the wrapping paper and revealed a brand new sketchbook and set of colored pencils. “Wow! This is awesome! Thank you so much, Norway!”

“Just don’t fill it with pictures of witches!” Norway joked, laughing.

“Yeah, yeah, I’ll keep my witches to myself!” Sweden shot back with a smile, remembering their previous playful banter.

After the excitement in the classroom settled down, Ms. Sandvik announced, “Alright, class, it’s time for recess! Enjoy the fresh air, and remember to be kind to one another.”

As the students filed outside, Sweden felt a sense of happiness bubbling inside him. He couldn’t wait to share his new sketchbook with his friends during recess.

Outside, the sun was shining brightly, and laughter filled the air. Sweden found a spot under a large tree where he could draw while enjoying the view of his friends playing.

“Hey, Sweden!” called out Iceland, running over. “Wanna join us for a game of tag?”

“Sure! Just let me finish this drawing!” Sweden replied, not wanting to miss out on the fun.

Just as Sweden was about to put his pencil down, he heard a loud shout coming from England, who was playing nearby. “F*** this!” he yelled, frustrated after missing a catch.

Sweden’s head snapped up, his smile fading. He knew it was a no-swearing day, especially on his birthday. He quickly walked over to England, a frown on his face. “Hey, England! We talked about this. It’s strictly prohibited to say that today.”

England looked sheepish, realizing his mistake. “Sorry, Sweden. I just got carried away.”

Sweden crossed his arms, trying to be serious but unable to keep the edge out of his voice. “I know it’s tough sometimes, but today is my special day. Let’s keep it fun and friendly!”

Norway chimed in, “Yeah, England! Sweden’s right. Let’s not ruin his birthday with bad words.”

“Fine, fine! I’ll behave,” England said, holding his hands up in surrender. “Happy birthday again, Sweden!”

With the matter settled, Sweden couldn’t help but smile again. “Thanks, England! Let’s just have fun, okay?”

The rest of recess was filled with laughter and games. Sweden joined in the tag game, his heart light and full of joy. He ran and laughed, his friends cheering him on, making him feel cherished and loved.

After the bell rang, signaling the end of recess, they returned to class, still buzzing from the excitement. Ms. Sandvik greeted them with a smile. “I hope you all enjoyed recess! Now, let’s get back to our lesson.”

As the class settled down, Sweden glanced around at his friends, feeling grateful for their support and the fun they had shared on his special day. He knew that birthdays were about more than just presents; they were about the people who made life special.

When the school day finally came to an end, Sweden left with a huge smile on his face. “Thanks for making my birthday so great, everyone!”

“Anytime, Sweden!” Iceland said, patting him on the back.

As Sweden walked home, he reflected on the day and realized that moments like these—filled with laughter, friendship, and a little bit of mischief—were the real treasures in life.
