Taylor checked the time on her phone for the tenth time in five minutes. She was early, which was unusual for her, but she'd been nervously excited about today. Travis had asked her to meet up for a low-key day of hanging out — no cameras, no crowds, just the two of them.

Finally, she spotted his car pulling up at the park entrance, his tall frame climbing out with a grin as he waved her over. Travis looked effortlessly put together, wearing a casual tee and jeans with a hint of scruff. They'd met at a charity event a few months ago and had been texting ever since, but this was the first time they'd gotten together in a more personal way.

"Hey, Swifty!" he greeted, his smile broadening as she approached.

"Hey, Kelce," she replied, rolling her eyes with a smile. She loved his nickname for her — it had started as a playful jab, but now it felt like a term of endearment.

They walked together down the tree-lined trail, the sun just beginning to dip behind the horizon. It cast a warm, golden glow over the autumn leaves that crunched under their feet. Travis picked up on Taylor's fascination with the vibrant colors, occasionally pointing out particularly brilliant trees and jokingly "rating" them on a scale of one to ten. Their laughter filled the crisp air, adding to the enchantment of the evening.

"So, when you're not catching touchdowns and I'm not writing sad songs, what do you do to unwind?" she asked, a playful tone in her voice as they walked side-by-side.

"Well," he said, scratching the back of his neck, "I'd like to say I read books, write poetry, and ponder the mysteries of life." He paused, grinning as she giggled. "But mostly, I binge-watch reality shows and play video games."

"Let me guess — all action games?" she teased.

"Hey now, don't stereotype me!" he replied with mock indignation. "I actually love story-driven games, believe it or not. Keeps me grounded after, you know... all the adrenaline on the field." He gave her a sheepish smile, and she couldn't help but feel a little more connected to him, realizing there was more beneath the surface than she'd first assumed.

Taylor paused as they neared a small pond, the last light of the sun casting shimmering reflections across the water. She hugged herself against the cool evening breeze, but before she could say a word, Travis shrugged off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders without missing a beat.

"Thanks," she said, looking up at him with a soft smile, her cheeks warming.

"Anytime." He looked down at her, his eyes full of that gentle, playful energy she was quickly growing fond of. "Plus, now I have an excuse to do this," he added, lightly flicking the hood of the jacket up over her head, making her laugh.

They sat down on a nearby bench overlooking the pond, their quiet laughter fading into a comfortable silence. The gentle sounds of nature around them filled the air as they simply enjoyed the presence of each other. She hadn't felt this... calm with someone in a long time.

"So, I have a confession," he said after a moment, glancing sideways at her.

"Oh? This sounds juicy," she said, leaning in with a mischievous grin.

"Well, you know that time I got benched for missing practice? I kind of... might have done that on purpose," he admitted, running a hand through his hair, looking a little sheepish.

Taylor's eyebrows shot up. "Wait — why?"

"I was hoping to make it to your concert that night," he said with a chuckle. "Didn't exactly go as planned, but hey, I tried."

She stared at him, surprised, and felt a strange flutter in her chest. The thought that he'd cared enough to try to make it to her show, even knowing he'd get in trouble, was unexpectedly sweet.
