Ki tore her gaze away from the race and met the eyes of Shae, who looked shocked to see her in such proximity.
London, who had once stood beside Ki, had wandered off with Fawn to get food while Ki stayed back to watch the race.
It was now that Ki wished she had gone along with them.
The noise around them had increased, considering their surroundings.
"Hi, Shae."
"Hey," Shae responded, not knowing what to say. "Who'd you come to watch?"
"Psalm," she said.
"Right," she nodded. "I came to watch Quincy."
"I figured."
To her surprise, Ki wasn't interested in continuing the conversation. She could tell that Shae was surprised to see her there.
She wasn't avoiding Shae, but she didn't see the point in talking to her anymore.
"You came by yourself?" Shae raised her brows, and Ki shook her head.
"I came with London," Ki answered, noticing the look that appeared on Shae's face: blatant skepticism.
"Seriously?" she scoffed. "Since when do you hang out with London?"
Surprised by the tone in her voice, Ki couldn't resist rolling her eyes. "Since when do you care?"
Just as she was about to respond, both London and Fawn appeared behind Ki.
"I didn't know what you wanted, so I just got th— oh hey, Shae." London cut herself short as her eyes focused on Shae, who now stood in front of all three girls.
"See you around, Ki," Shae said to Ki instead of responding to London, who was taken aback.
"What was that about?" Fawn asked after Shae walked off, leaving Ki to face both her and London.
